the sun rises once again, and so does jeongguk. the faint sound of the cicadas chirring and the trees rustling were heard as he woke up into the foreign area.

he safely got into his motel that night and immediately walked up to his room upon arriving. the place was quite small, but cozy to say the least. it was set in what seemed like a very quaint town of jeju.

two days have gone by but upon the boy's arrival he hasn't done anything-- special yet. jeongguk being jeongguk, he has yet to leave his motel room since he got here. no walks, no exploring, nothing. not a single step out the door. besides what he could see from the outside of his window, he didn't even know much of the town yet. just a few establishments here and there, but not a lot to go by.

jeongguk did want to go out. he's always had a love for the outdoors. something about it just seems so alluring to him and he would explore the world all day if only he could. despite wanting to bask in the sun's warmth, there would always be something in his mind that would eat away his motivation.

for these past two days, he found solace in the comfort of his bed and phone. that's all he's been doing but he's starting to grow tired of it. with nothing else to do, his eyes fall on the tiny piece of paper by the vase of anemones that's been sitting by the desk for the past two days.

he looks at himself one last time in the mirror before heading out. jeongguk tucks in his shirt and ruffles his hazelnut hair. he attempts to tug a smile, as if a string was forcefully pulling the corners if his lips.

his reflection makes him crack a laugh. his wretched state made him chuckle, knowing that at this point, he'd still look hideous no matter how much he'd try. no smile could ever conceal his broken state.

"it's better to leave now than later." he says to himself. after accepting that there was no fix to the ugly he saw in his own reflection, the boy finally decides to leave the room. he exits the door with a big sigh, hands in his pockets, his head down.

"let's just get this over with."
