the heavy weight of embarrassment in his chest restrained him from leaving. like a puppy, the guilty boy stayed by the girl. he let the asters and daffodils encase them, as he kept her company, along with the butterflies that fluttered their little wings and lingered around the two.

with a straight face he sat by the stranger whom he had shouted at upon their first encounter. the sky slowly melting into orange and gold as it stretched far and wide.

silenced by the songs of the wind, the girl cradles the notebook in her grasp. pen swiftly gliding atop one of the many pages as she freely sketched with a warm smile. her heart beats with each strike of the pencil, following the rhythm and soothing sounds of nature.

it was a butterfly. the young lady was drawing a butterfly. bringing a fragment of her memory to life by transferring the images in her head onto a piece of paper with her beautiful sketches.

engulfed by silence, jeongguk carefully watched the seemingly odd girl from the other side of the bench. her child-like braided hair, tan skin with soft freckles that signaled her love for the outdoors, and her dainty hands that swiftly graced each segment of the page with her sketches.

her boldness to ask him, a man unfamiliar to the girl, to keep her company still makes him dazed and puzzled. for all he knew he could've been a creepy man with secret intent towards the lady, yet her will to trust amuses him.

all of a sudden, the sight of electric blue wings fill his gaze and catches his attention. the boy's chocolate eyes glisten in awe at the sight of the butterfly as it flutters its wings around him. it perches by his shoulder, taking him by surprise, he gasps at the close encounter.

"a morpho butterfly." the girl chimes in, laughing at the sudden sight of the boy glowing in excitement.

"don't move." she utters after a glance. the boy follows, still as ice, not wanting the new friend on his shoulder to leave. she quickly retrieved the leather notebook in her grasp, flipping onto a new page. giggling to herself, she takes quick glances at the blue beauty and swiftly copies it into the blank spaces of her journal.
