"over there!" the girl exclaimed, pointing in a frivolous manner. by the looks of her double braids and overflowing excitement, she could be mistaken
for a child.

holding the camera to his face, click, the camera shutters with a swift press of a button. with the boy's vast liking for photography, what used to be a nice view had froze and become a perfect high definition photo.

"ooh, can i see?" the girl politely asked, hands reaching out for the heavy camera on his hold.

cradling the camera in her dainty hands, her eyes sparkle at the sight of the beautiful butterfly peacefully perched on a lilac petal. you could see the admiration evident in the soft gaze of the young lady as she looks at the photo. she was in awe.

she wasted no time and hurriedly grabbed her notebook and pencil. the two sit back on their usual spot. the boy carefully watches her in silence as she takes out her things.

the notebook had a leather cover with butterfly stickers scattered on the front. it seemed worn out probably from all the years its been in possession, but it seemed charming.

she flips through the book, in search of a blank page to sketch on. surprisingly, every page that passed through her delicate touch had sketches of butterflies on them. the boy was intrigued. each page was filled with butterflies, probably of almost every kind. some would have multiple ones in each page and some would just have one giant one, each labeled with its name. it seemed she had a wide knowledge of the tiny winged insect.

she peacefully sketched away, taking glances back and forth from the photo and the paper. she drew with a smile and at that moment you could see her eyes twinkle with every strike of the pen. her hazelnut eyes seemed to have its own pool of stars.

the girl all of a sudden speaks, catching him off guard, "what's your name?" she asks, adding the finishing touches to her art piece.

his expression turns sour, "for what?" he replies, confused.

"so that we can be friends, silly." the girl finally turns up to look at him. a soft gaze with her flower-like smile.

the boy's face turns blank as their eyes lock. they're expressions were different from one another. his was cold as the winter breeze, hers was warm as a sunflower.

"you trust too easily. i'm a stranger." the boy scoffs and looks away, leaving the two in silence. the girl was left dumbfounded, pouty at his response. how can someone be so— dry? she thought and carries on with her sketch wearing a subtle frown.

the silence grows. not even the songs of the wind nor the bustling of the trees made a sound. the only sound heard was of the girl's pencil, striking the page of her notebook as she drew with each detail of the photo.

the boy was in awe of her skills. it was like she had the hands of an angel, gracing each page with a beautiful butterfly.

"what's with all the butterflies?" curious, the boy asked.

she looks at him with a playful gaze, "why would i tell you? someone told me that i shouldn't trust too easily." she said, with a mischievous look on her face, trying her best to hold her laugh. now it was the poor boy's turn to be left dumbfounded. he couldn't believe he was played by his own words. "you know, if we were friends then maybe i'd—"

"okay, okay" the boy interrupts, "i'm jeon jeongguk." he said, followed by a light chuckle. finally giving in, he takes out his hand for a shake.

tugging her infamous flower-like smile, her hand reaches out to meet his,

"i'm seo nari."
