"nari?" he looks at her blank expression, that was now carving into a smile. his hands come up to his face, gasping as well. "what are you doing here?"
"i live here."
disbelief crashes onto him like a big wave wiping him out. those three words that flew passed his ear were enough to make him want to slap the daylights out of him, hoping this was all an absurd dream he could wake up from soon.
"my aunt owns this motel, i live in the last room down the hall." the look of innocence sprawls over her face as she spoke to the boy, still unaware of the situation.
guk finds himself plastering the most fake, sarcastic grin, "wow thats really... great!" he said when in truth he was questioning the reality the universe suddenly threw at him.
"oh my gosh," the girl starts, beginning to finally understand the situation at hand. her surprised expression blossoms into a bright smile, "you're kidding, we're neighbors?!" she squeals, jumping around like a kid. you could see her eyes glow in ecstasy, excitement evident in her demeanor as she continues to blab nonstop about her newly acquainted friend being her neighbor. "what are the odds! how exciting! i haven't been this excited since that time i caught that butterfly in—" her bubbly self continued to express her joy but the boy was quick to shut the door before she even had the chance to come in.
the boy leans by the door, a breath of relief escapes his heavy chest. he couldn't take the weight of the situation any longer and simply escaped. escaped into the one place he was supposed to find comfort and solace in but at that moment, all he could hear was the muffled sound of the girl's high pitched voice from the other side of the oak door.
"why does this have to happen to me?"

the sun awakens, blossoming as a flower on the horizon, rising to grace the land with the warmth of its golden rays. its light left a lovely soft glow across the boy's room. it could've been the perfect day to stay in,
but it wasn't.
"jeongguk-ssi!" the young lady calls out to her friend from the other side of the wall with a series of knocks on his door that wouldn't seem like it would stop anytime soon. "are you ready, jeongguk-ssi?" she asked with an ear pressed on his door, curious if he was ready to leave. yet it was silent.
across the walls that lied between the two was jeongguk who was still in bed. he had his pillow wrapped around his head, covering his ears. his eyes tightly shut, trying to grasp the minutes more of sleep he could've gotten if it weren't for the girl out his door.
it was no lie that seo nari was a very bubbly and outgoing type of person. it was the weekend and to her it would be outrageous not to go out on this fine day, preferably spent with a friend. lucky for her jeongguk was just down the hall.
it was convenient for nari but it wasn't the same for the poor boy. it was pretty obvious that he had nothing better to do. and so now that the two had discovered they lived across each other, he has no excuse to turn the girl down if she invited him to keep her company at the garden again. he groaned in frustration, realizing that he had to deal with this nuisance everyday for the rest of this trip.
and so that was how his precious morning turned out. dawn was now slowly melting into gold and the two sat side by side at their usual spot.
