Rosie
It took many long hours. I never realised how long labour was, but Harry and I were there the whole time, guiding and supporting the mother of our first child. I felt I was about to collapse with my lack of sleep these past few weeks. I'd been having these dreams. I couldn't understand them. I was running, but no one was there. It was the same dream every night, stopping me from getting any more than an hour's sleep, but I hadn't told Harry what with all the panicking he'd been doing these past few weeks, ringing Grace every hour of the day to make sure she was okay, that she hadn't had an accident. He went shopping for her, drove her into town and had been going around her house at least twice a day. Grace told him not to worry, but Harry was stubborn.
It had been 6 months since the birth. She was truly gorgeous. I couldn't explain the feelings I had for this small life. I would hold her as if she was made of china. She was perfect and everything that Harry and I ever wanted. Harry wouldn't leave her alone. He would constantly check in on her when she was sleeping. I tried relaxing him for a few minutes, but he felt he had to check every half an hour.
"Harry," I moaned irritably, slumped on the sofa. My head fell back onto the top of the sofa as I rolled my eyes to the ceiling. "Harry! She's fine. The baby monitor's on. Let her get some sleep!" I called through the house.
There was a long silence before soft footsteps ran down the stairs. Harry's tall frame soon appeared in the door.
"I don't trust those things," he said softly, quietly closing the door shut behind him. "I prefer to check myself."
I raised my eyebrows over to him. Harry's body slouched a little as he saw the look on my face.
"I know I worry too much," Harry mumbled. "I just want to keep her safe, you know? I love her to pieces. I couldn't bear to lose her."
Harry's voice had grown lower and croakier. He leaned up against the living room door and scratched his head. I'd learn that was his way of telling me he was nervous. As much as Harry enjoyed protecting people, he let it become a serious worry. I patted the sofa beside me and watched as Harry shuffled over, collapsing down onto the cushions. I guided his head onto my shoulder, feeling his recently washed curls tickle at my skin. He buried his face into the crook in my neck, letting out a heavy tired sigh. I softly ran my fingers through his hair.
"I know," I mumbled, twirling one of his curls around my finger. "Maybe you should get some sleep for a few hours. You look exhausted. Grace is coming around in a bit so we can look after Kayla. You get some rest."
There was a long pause that followed as Harry thought about it.
"Fine," he grumbled, lifting his head from my neck. I reached out to capture his head in my hands and give him a warm smile. He yawned as I pulled him closer to me, grinning against the skin of his forehead as I kissed it. I let my wet kisses sprinkle down the side of his face before my mouth hovered over his. My heart still pounded in my chest every time we ended up this close, but it was different now. I could kiss him.
After I turned Harry into what I was all those years ago, I started training him, just like he did with me. He was getting stronger. I thought he was ready. The first time I tried to kiss him he went out of control. He left wounds on my body so deep they took days to heal rather than just overnight. I'd tried forgetting it, but Harry was still apologising now for it. We'd both hurt each other before without wanting to. I understood.
Harry let out a soft groan as I captured his lips in mine. I felt Harry's body instantly tense up with the amount of intimacy shared between us. I wrapped my fingers around his biceps and squeezed them securely. Harry let out a pained moan before his muscles finally released all the tension. He sunk into the kiss a little more with every second that passed until the real Harry was back with me. I smiled against his lips, running my fingertips up and down the skin of his arms to calm him so he kept his control.
