I woke up to the smell of cooking food downstairs. Rolling over, I realised Rosie wasn't lying with me. Last night's events were a blur, but the exhaustion was real, causing me to sleep in late. I looked at the clock to see that it was almost midday. I jumped out of bed and down the stairs to see Rosie stirring something at the hob and Kayla sat up in her highchair giggling and banging her small hands on the table in front of her.
"Morning," Rosie said sarcastically, looking at me over her shoulder. "Nice sleep?"
I scratched my head and tried to run my fingers through my curls, but the knots were being stubborn. "It was alright."
I approached Kayla and lifted her out of her chair. She squealed and reached out for me. I pulled her into my chest and rocked her softly. "I love our morning cuddles, baby."
She grinned up at me before burying her face into my chest. She was growing rapidly by the day, gaining strength and confidence quickly.
"You'd better get ready," Rosie said, adjusting the heat of the hob. "Luke and Grace will be here soon."
"What?" I asked. "You didn't tell me we were having visitors."
"I did. Late last night in bed. You said it was fine."
"I don't remember that," I murmured, glancing down at Kayla. Her hands were fisting my top and pulling at it playfully. I stopped her and looked back up at Rosie. "You know Grace likes Luke."
Rosie nodded and smiled at me over her shoulder. "That's why we're having them around as our guests, to gently urge them to get together."
I laughed lightly, swinging Kayla onto my hip. "Are you playing Cupid now?"
Rosie shrugged, concentrating on preparing the food. "I just want Grace to be happy."
I smiled and approached Rosie from behind. I rested my spare hand onto her hip and kissed the back of her neck exposed due to the messy bun on the top of her head. My kisses trailed around to the side of her neck and Rosie couldn't help but let out a small groan and move back into me a little.
"God, you're beautiful," I murmured into her skin. "I need to be with you again, Rosie."
She turned to me suddenly. "After you've gotten dressed and we've entertained our guests." She saw the grin on my face and raised a finger in the air. "Maybe."
I grinned wider and stole a kiss from her lips before taking a step back. Rosie smiled and turned back to the saucepans in front of her. "You can get Kayla ready too. She's got a new blue dress upstairs."
I bounced Kayla on my hip and flashed her a smile. "Let's go, little one," I said, sauntering out of the room and up the stairs to make both myself and Kayla presentable to our guests.

"This roast dinner looks so good," Grace complimented as Rosie placed a full plate in front of her. "You must've been up all morning preparing this."
Rosie simply shrugged and smiled before giving me and Luke a mountain of food whilst Kayla dug into the few vegetables, roast potatoes and chicken she had. I leaned over and kissed my wife. "It looks great, baby."
I always loved the way Rosie's cheeks turned pink when she was complimented. She gave me a smile before noticing the bits of broccoli down Kayla's dress and using her napkin to wipe it off. I watched as she held our daughter's small chin in her hand and rubbed her cheek with her thumb. Kayla smiled at her, showing the food in her mouth.
I noticed Luke's hand reaching up to cover his mouth as he yawned for the third time in the last few minutes. Rosie frowned at him.
"You look exhausted, Luke," she said. "Have you not been sleeping well?"
