I got off the bus at school that morning and made my way to my locker. When I got to it I opened it and proceeded to take some stuff out and put some stuff in. My mind was in a heavy place. The kendo club, my favourite thing at school, would close down this Friday if I couldn't attract new members. I sighed and tried to take my mind off of it. Jesse came over at one point and we conversed until the bell rang. We walked to class together and once class had actually started, I began to think about the kendo club again. 'Genji, please, I know I can convince you to join somehow...' I thought to myself.
-Timeskip to Lunch-
I walked out of class and made my way to my locker before walking to the cafeteria. On the way I passed Genji's locker. I stopped and looked back at it. Suddenly I took a pen and paper out of my bag and wrote a quick note:
'Meet me on the roof after school.'
I folded the paper in half and quickly slipped it into Genji's locker through the slits before walking to the cafeteria. I walked over to a table where Jesse, Brigitte, Satya, and Lucio sat and sat down in between Jesse and Satya. I took my pre-made sushi lunch out of my bag and began to eat while engaging in conversations with everyone else. "-and Papa laughed and laughed! You should have been there Jesse!" Brigitte said, giggling uncontrollably. Jesse chuckled. The positive atmosphere suddenly left when a certain couple came towards the table. It was that Ashe girl and her boyfriend Bob. She smirked, her and Bob standing behind Lucio and facing us all. "What a group we have here. These friends, Jesse?" She said in that attitude of a voice. Jesse chuckled. "They sure are. Where's yours?" Ashe crosses her arms and leaned up against Bob's right arm. "Someplace. I don't care to know where at the moment." She said in a sassy tone. "That's cold, Ashe. What about Amelíe? Aren't you two friends?" Jesse asked. Ashe smiles, "Yes, we are. But what did I just say? I don't care for any of my friend's whereabouts at the moment."
Jesse rolls his eyes slightly. "Alright then...is there a certain reason you're here?" He asks. "No, not really. Come on, Bob." She says, taking Bob's hand into hers and with that, walking away from our table and out of the cafeteria. I turn to Jesse. "She's very rude..." Brigitte mumbles as she takes a sip of her soda. "She is. She also seems to drag that Bob guy around everywhere." I say to Jesse. He smirks. "It's the opposite really. He goes where she goes most of the time. I think he's afraid of breaking up with her." Jesse says. Lucio tilts his head. "How long have they been together?" Jesse shrugged his shoulders as he took another bite of his sandwich. "All I know is that they've been together since at least 8th grade." He says. I go back to eating my lunch as well. I better not get distracted, I need to think of something that'll get Genji to join the Kendo club. Maybe I'll give him all of the money in my wallet? My car? I'm desperate at this point. I just cannot have the Kendo club shut down, I won't let our instructor go through with that.
-Timeskip to Last Period-
'I hope Genji will be there. I wonder if he knows that I'm the one who put the note in his locker?' I thought to myself as I walked out of my last class of the day. I made my way through all the corridors and went up a few stairs before reaching the roof. Students were allowed up here to eat lunch and sometimes the dance club and cheerleaders would practice up here if the football field or music room was taken. I walked over to the railing and gazed out at the town from the top of the school. The scenery was beautiful. From my right I could see a little bit of the student parking lot and I could've sworn I maybe had seen Brigitte too. From my left I could see the football field, but there was no one there at the moment. Straight down were the bleachers. When I looked straight ahead of me, I could see parts of downtown and below was the soccer field. There wasn't much other than that.
"Hanzo?" I heard my name from behind me. I turned around a saw Genji with the note I had written in his left hand. "Oh no, please tell me you didn't call me up here just to try and get me to join the Kendo club." He sighed. I took a few steps towards him. "Please Genji, I'm desperate. If I don't get someone new to join by this Friday, the school will shut down the club for good and I can't let that happen! Please Genji." I pleaded with him. Genji's annoyed expression turned soft. He stuffed the note I had written for him into his left pocket before placing his right hand on my shoulder. "Look, I'm sorry you're having trouble with your club. I would join if I could, really. But Hanzo, Kendo really isn't my thing. And I fence after school everyday. Being in the Kendo club...I just wouldn't enjoy it Hanzo. I'm sorry." He explained before turning his back to me and beginning to walk away. I could feel my face get hot and my blood boil. Everything I have ever done for this club, and now, because of him, it's all going to go down the drain. So...
I punched him, right the back. This is the first time I've ever attacked Genji. He let out a shout before falling to the floor. "Why are you being so selfish?!" I screamed at him. He quickly stood up and stared at me with a pure look of shock and probably hatred too. He swung at me and punched my left arm. We fought, punched, and kicked. When he was suddenly close to the railing, I lost control. I took him by both arms and slammed his body into the railing. What I didn't expect, was for it to break off. Everything was in slow motion, that's what it felt like at least. I watched as Genji, my brother, my younger brother, the one I promised Dad I'd look after, fell off the roof of the school. I reached out and tried to grab his hand, but it was too late. I saw him plummet to the ground below. I stared down at Genji's unmoving body, hoping that I would just see him try to get up.
'Come on Genji...'
'Please get up Genji...'
'Shit!'(Sorry it took so long to get a chapter out, I've been going through some mental health issues. I'll try to update more often. Wow...this chapter huh? Sorry it was such a bummer, but I've been planning this for a while. Next chapter will hopefully be out soon!)
