"What are you doing?" Kakashi chuckled, coming upon me in the front yard hunched over a bush.
"I don't know if I'm doing, but I'm trying to get this over the bush..." I glanced at Kakashi over my shoulder, "any chance of giving me a hand?" I asked sweetly.
He shook his head at me with a smirk, then came over and grabbed a corner of the decoration I was trying to lay out. "And why are you out here fighting with...cotton?" He questioned, not getting the obvious nature of what I was doing.
"You mean what am I doing out here with this spider web" I corrected him as I tucked my side into a few little branches.
"A spider web?" He didn't sound too impressed, glancing at me with a raised brow.
"Obviously," once he tucked in his side, I pulled out a couple toy spiders from my pocket and scattered them across the 'web', "...and why do you need a spider web?" He asked.
I slowly turned to him with a look like he was crazy. Has he been living under a rock? "You know it's Halloween, right?"
A look of 'oh' came over his face. "Is it already that time of year?" He asked like he didn't believe it.
"Earth to Kakashi, where have you been this October?" I asked with a giggle.
He just shrugged his shoulder like it didn't phase him. "Don't really pay attention to the 'holiday' much."
"What...you don't...but it's Halloween. A holiday dedicated to fun! Who doesn't get excited for Halloween" I exasperated...it also might be my first Halloween ever...maybe I was just hyping myself up more than an adult should...do adults still get excited for Halloween?
Kakashi just raised his hand in answer, the tucked them in his pockets with another shrug of his shoulders. "Just never saw the point."
"Never saw the point...have you already forgotten what it was like when you were one of the kids trick-or-treating?"
"I haven't. I always got in my best training since everyone was too busy to slow me down." He said as if that was the one highlight of the holiday.
"You really never trick-or-treated when you were a kid? I thought that's what made it so exciting..." Not that I knew what it was like...
Kakashi held the front door open for me as we made our way inside the house. Itatsu was on the couch, still napping slumped over on the pillow he fell over while watching his favorite kids show.
(Here's showing my age. When I was a kid, I watched episodes of Pokemon as they were first airing. No reruns and I had to wait for the next season!)
"I wear a mask everyday. Just never saw the point in trading one for another."
"Well, you might not have enjoyed it when you were little, but you're welcome to join Itatsu and I now."
"You are trick or treating? Costume and all?" He wrapped his arms around my waist, peering down at me with a raised brow.
"Of course," I gasped like 'how can you even ask that', "how could I not?"
He leaned down, lips brushing my cheek, "any chance this costume is just for me?" He whispered. His breath tickled my ear making me giggle.
I traced my finger across his chest, "Well it does come with a whip," I whispered back, then pushed on his chest making him step back, "but it's not for you." I pouted innocently.
Kakashi gaped at me, jaw hung open slightly in disbelief. "How the hell is that not for me?" He whined childishly.
I giggled at his reaction and went over to a bag on the kitchen counter. "Because I-" I pulled out a top hat and placed it dramatically on my head as I looked back at Kakashi, "-am a lion tamer, and Itatsu is my lion."
