I run upstairs to my apartment and swing open the door to see my mom slumped on the couch. She looks over at me her eyes hazed over "You're home early."
"Yea well I don't feel that good."
"Okay well I can make you something to eat I'm sure there is something in here I can cook."
"Mom you haven't been to the store in 3 months I'm pretty sure the only thing in there is chunky milk."
"Oh." She scratches her head and leans her head back.
"Aren't you going to the group I signed you up for?"
"Oh yea that's what I was about to get ready for." My mom lets out a laugh and struggles to get up from the couch. "I didn't drink so much today so that's a good start right?" She stumbles over her feet on the way to the room.
"A good start would be, being able to walk straight."
"Well I'm trying Sam would you give me some credit." I walk to my room not being able to look at my mom anymore. I lock the door and go to my closet and pull out my safety kit.
I run my hand over the top tears pooling in my eyes. I push open the lid and pull out the biggest shard I can find. I cut deep into my skin trying to forget Theo's hands on me, I try to forget his hands on me.
The voice in my head whispers to me "Cut deeper you know you deserve it." So I do I cut and cut until I can no longer take holding the shard in my hand. "You did this to yourself Sam it's your fault!"
"Stop. Stop. Stop it!" I yell tears streaking my face.
A knock echos through my house, I get up and stuff everything back into my safety kit except for the shard I use I stuff that into my hoodie pocket and wipe my face. I pull my sleeves down and run to the bathroom.
"Mom can you get the door I have to use the bathroom."
"Okay honey." My mom stumbles into the living room as I slide into the bathroom. I rub the shard under the water to rinse the blood off and clean up the cuts as best as I can so they won't bleed to much. I hear muffled voices talking in the front room as I clean the sink up.
"A boy is here for you honey I'm heading out to my group now."
A boy? "Okay mom thanks." I wait until I hear the door close to leave the bathroom. I walk into the living room to find Theo sitting on the couch he looks sobered up a little. "What are you doing here?"
"I came to say sorry."
"How do you even know where I live?"
"Sarah gave it to me."
"Let me guess she made you say sorry didn't she?"
"No I came on my own free will but you're making me regret coming."
"Well you said sorry you can go now."
"You know I'm starting to not be sorry you're a real spoiled brat."
"Me a spoiled brat? unlike you I take care of myself you probably go home crying to your mom when something goes wrong."
Theo stands up and takes meaningful steps towards me, "You know nothing about me so don't act like you do."
His sudden serious tone takes me by surprise and my eyes go big. "Sorry I didn't mean to hit a nerve."
"Well you did, do you except my apology or not?"
"Yea whatever I forgive you just don't touch me like that again."
"Why did grabbing your arm make you cry?"
