Sarah avoids all questions concerning Theo and his ex girlfriend by saying 'it's not my story to tell' and honestly it's getting annoying.
"Well I should take Sam here home I have to get home myself."
"Why do you have to be home so early it's not like your mom even cares what time you get home."
"She doesn't but my grandma does and she's staying with us until the weekend."
"Oh well see ya."
"Alright bye."
"Bye Ayden." I wave my hand and he simply waves the beer bottle in his hand.
The first couple minutes of the walk are quiet before I break the silence. "Why is everyone acting like whatever happened between Theo and his ex is such a serious secret?"
"Because it's a dark story and it's not my place to tell you. If you want to know so bad ask him yourself."
"You know I can't do that he'll just shut me down before I can even get the words out."
"You're right so I guess you just won't know."
"Come on Sarah just tell me."
"No and why are you so worried?" She looks at me out the corner of her eye and smiles "Are you worried Theo is going to be taken away from the poor baby?" She says in a baby voice.
"Sarah stop trying to change the subject it won't work."
Sarah rolls her eyes and her smile disappears. "Well if you are don't worry trust me Theo is never taking her back after what she did."
"That's not what I'm worried about it's just I've never seen him get so angry over somebody. Not even when I first came he wasn't that aggressive."
"Sam stop being jealous for a second and see that you don't have to know everything."
"Fine since you're not going to tell me I'll just get it from somewhere else."
"Good luck with that." after a couple more minutes we are standing in front of my building.
"See you tomorrow I guess."
"Yep if I feel like showing." Sarah waves her hand and disappears into the crowd of people.
I walk up to my apartment and find my mom sitting in the living room fully dressed watching TV. "Hey mom."
"Hey honey I was starting to get worried about you because you're usually home by now but then I remembered you're probably at Naomi's house."
The blood drains from my face and my body goes numb. "Mom Naomi died 3 weeks ago and her parents won't let me come over anymore."
"Oh honey I'm so sorry I forgot." Her eyes go soft and she looks at me with sad eyes.
"It's fine."
"Why won't her parents let you come over anymore though? You and Naomi were best friends that's selfish if you ask me."
"It's a long story I don't feel like telling right now."
I guess all that beer wiped her memory of almost everything. She must have been drunk when she found out. "I'm going to go out later is that fine?"
"Uh yea I guess just be home before 10 you have school in the morning."
"Yea of course." I walk to my room and close the door behind me. I wish I had Theo's number right about now but I don't and I regret not asking for it. I fall back on my bed then remember something.
I rush out to the living room towards the door, "Change of plans I'm leaving out now I'll be back soon." He's got to be at the diner I know it.
I rush down the street weaving through people and finally reach the diner. I walk through the doors and see the back of Theo's head in the same booth we were in last time he brought me here.
"Theo?"
He turns his head slowly and quickly turns away when he sees me. I walk towards him and sit in the booth seat across from him. "Theo are you okay?"
He scoffs and looks away from me. "Why does something always have to be wrong with me?"
"What do you mean?"
"Why can't I just be Theo nothing wrong just Theo?"
"What happened with you and that girl?"
He looks at me then looks away not even looking like he was about to tell me. "You should go Sarah I'm not in the mood to talk."
I stay quiet for a moment before speaking again. "Fine I won't speak we can just sit is that okay?"
He looks over at me and shrugs his shoulders. We sit in silence for 30 minutes until he breaks the silence. "You know people can screw you over when you've done nothing but everything for them."
I sit down the pepper shaker I've been messing with and look at him in surprise. "Is this about your ex?"
"Who told you she was my ex?"
"Uh Sarah but don't be mad I forced it out of her but she wouldn't tell me anything else."
He looks at me and back at the table. "It doesn't matter."
"What happened with you and your ex?"
"Sam I don't think you want to know."
"Try me."
He takes a deep breath and sits up and gives me a serious look. "She had sex with my dad."
My eyes widen and I look at him realizing he wasn't kidding. "You're serious?"
"Yes and now she decides to come back like it was a problem what she did."
"But she looked so innocent."
"I know but I guess you never really know a person until you see their bad side."
"How can she do something like that?" I lean forward and place my hand on top of his and he pulls away and looks out the window.
"I don't want to talk about this anymore Sam."
"You still have feelings for her don't you?" I asked surprised.
Theo's jaw tenses up and he slips out of the booth. "I told you I didn't want to talk about it." He runs his hand through his hair and lets out a deep breath. "I'm gonna go please just leave me alone." He rushes out of the diner.
I watch him walk down the street from the window until I lose track of him in the crowd of people. I got out of the booth after a couple of minutes and walk home. I need to talk to Sarah.
