My eyes pop out of my head and I stare at Sean in confusion and surprise "Sean I don't what to say."
"Please say yes." Sean's eyes look at me in a begging gesture.
"Yes." The words slip out of my lips before I can even think about the answer. My eyes widen and Sean's face glows with happiness.
He places his hand on the side of my face and looks into my eyes a smile creeping onto his lips. He brings his lips closer to mine until they're brushing against my own. "I love you Sam."
My heart feels like it's in my throat and I can't form any words I open my mouth but nothing comes out and he looks at me in a knowing way.
"It's okay Sam you don't have to say it back. I just wanted you to know how I feel about you." He places his hand on top of mine and squeezes it. I smile back not knowing what to say.
"I'm sorry Sean but I'm just not ready to say that to you."
"I understand really it can't be easy to say it so quickly but I really do love you and I just wanted you to know."
I don't know what to say so I smile at him and try to change the subject. "I think we should go inside I'm getting a bit hot."
"Okay that's fine." He grabs my hand and we walk into the house.
I rest of the day flies by and once Sean's high came down he was more himself. I watched him do work for awhile and he left me alone a couple of times to make phone calls. It's now 6:30 and my mom has just texted me asking when I'm coming home.
"Hey Sean I think I should leave my mom is worried about me."
"So soon?" He places his hands on my hips pulling me closer to him.
"I know but I really should go."
He kisses my forehead and pulls me into a hug. "Okay I'll give you a ride home and speaking of your mom when am I going to meet her?"
I raise my eyebrows and give a weird look. "Whoa there. Slow down we just started dating and you're already trying to meet my mom?"
"You're right I am moving a bit fast. I'll just drop you off and see you tomorrow."
"Sounds good."
He drops me off at my apartment and kisses me goodbye before I get out. I walk up to my apartment and push the door open.
Laughter fills the room and I look around in confusion. I find Sarah sitting on the couch with my mom. "Mom?"
"Honey! Sarah came bye she said she needed to talk to you."
"Of course she does."
"I'll give you two a minute to talk."
"Thank you." Sarah smiles at my mom as she walks out of the room. "Sam I just want to say I'm sorry."
"Oh are you?"
"Yes Sam I'm sorry! I understand we are best friends now and I'm not use to that. I've never had a best friend and I don't trust anyone with my secrets."
"So you're going to tell me?"
"No." She looks down at the ground and plays with her fingers.
"Then why are you even here?"
"To say I'm sorry. Listen it's not my place to tell you what me and Theo were talking about because it's not my secret. I would tell you all my secrets in a heartbeat because you're my first best friend and I trust you." She looks at me with sad eyes, tears forming in her eyes.
"Sarah I'm sorry. It wasn't my place to force you to tell me every little detail about your life. I know you wouldn't do that to me so I shouldn't have done it to you." I walk closer to Sarah and open my arms.
Sarah breaks down into tears and pulls me into a hug. "I'm so glad we are friends again."
"Me too as much as I was mad at you I missed hanging out with you." I am crying now and we both look a mess. "You wanna watch a movie?"
"Yeah." She smiles and pulls me to arms length, "I missed you so much!"
I laugh through my tears and wipe them away. I pop in Training Day, we sit on the couch under the biggest cover I could find in the house.
"Oh my God Will Smith is so hot." I comment while stuffing popcorn in my face.
"I would totally marry a cop but I want to do some illegal shit on the way out of this bitch." Sarah comments with a serious face.
"Sarah you are so stupid!" I laugh and she looks at me and shrugs.
"What I mean they usually have great bodies but I can't have my husband taking me to jail every week." She pops popcorn into her mouth and smiles at me.
"What do you plan to do everyday? Steal vodka from a store everyday?"
"Who knows but I must say that's not a bad idea. It actually sounds fun." She laughs and I throw popcorn at her.
"You need to stop." She laughs and we look back at the TV.
***
For the pass two weeks it's been the same routine wake up go to Sean's house go home hangout with Sarah go back to sleep. It's now my last day of suspension and I'm leaving the apartment with my new friend the driver heading back to my apartment.
"Hey hows your girlfriend?"
"She's good she actually sent you this in return for the advice on what to do at work." He hands me a strawberry cupcake and smiles.
"Awe she is so sweet! Tell her I said thanks."
"I'm really wondering how you weaseled yourself into my life."
"You love me and you know it." I smile and bit the cupcake. "Come on let's go Sarah is gonna be at my house any second."
"Okay don't rush me." He smiles and gets in the drivers seat while I get in the passenger seat.
"Okay be honest which one do you think is better Good Girls or Jane the Virgin?"
"I don't watch those shows."
My eyes widen and I look at him in pure shock. "You haven't seen those shows?"
"No what's the big deal anyway?"
"The big deal? The big deal is they are the best drama shows on TV right now."
"Good thing I don't watch drama shows. That's more of a question for my girlfriend not for me."
"You're so lame." I take another bit into the cupcake and give him a side glance. He sees me and a smile creeps on to his lips before we both burst out into laughter.
We pull up in front of my apartment and I salute as a goodbye the hop out. I walk up the stairs and down the hall. My mood is at an all time high and nothing can ruin it. Or so I thought. I turn the last corner and once I turn I see a man with his back turned to me standing in front of my door.
"Um can I help you?"
The man spins around and the man I see standing in front of me I haven't been able to forget since the day he left.
"Honey it's so good to see you."
My dad.
