That night, Berk was dead quiet. Each house stood lifeless as hardly a soul paroled the streets, but the silence was soon filled by a pair's giddy laughter as they landed back on ground. The stars looked perfect against the surreal canvas of night and in the darkness of a moonless sky, they glinted brighter than ever before.

Toothless and Sirena's cheeks were stained pink from the cold. As they giggled to themselves about words held secret between only them, Toothless snuck a glance at the beautiful mermaid in front of him and felt his affection grow tenfolds.

The Alpha swung a leg over the saddle, dismounting the Monstrous Nightmare who was trying to act suave.

The pair giggled like children and when they stopped, he looked up at her and smiled, the kind where it looked like his heart was bursting with joy and his eyes would crinkle the slightest in the corners. This was the smile she always cherished, because he looked so young and free and she felt safe with him, like they would okay as long as they were together.

Toothless cleared his throat, that stupid attractive grin still etched on his face as Sirena tried not to swoon. His smile shifted into one that was softer and full of admiration as he held out his hand to her. She let her fingers fall into his, as he helped her down.

To her surprise, her foot was caught on something. She let out a scared gasp as she fell into his arms, surprising them both.

Hookfang shielded his eyes with his wing, but he continued to watch intently.

As he held her, Toothless felt his heart race and the longer he looked at her, the more he felt compelled to finally tell her about everything that he'd been feeling since...

He was going to do it and tonight would be the night.

That was when he remembered that he was still holding her.

He gently let her down, as she kicked the pesky strap from her heel. She stuttered a shy 'thank you' as he grinned at her.

"Probably should've just let you fall," he snickered.

Sirena gaped at him and whacked his arm.

"You're so mean!"

"I'm kidding! I'm kidding!" he laughed.

She huffed but ended up laughing alongside him. They smiled at each other and looked away, unsure whether the other truly felt the same, but cherishing the butterflies in their stomachs.

"H-here! I'll walk you home!"

"O-oh! Astrid actually wanted me to spend the night at her place. The three of us are having a s-sleepover."

"I'll walk you to Astrid's then," Toothless chuckled.

She nodded silently, smiling to herself.

They began their stroll underneath a starlit sky and for a moment in time, it felt like the world belonged to them and only them as they filled it with their laughter. Sirena listened to his voice, studied his smile, while she thought about everything else that had just happened. No one had ever done anything remotely close to this splendour for her and it was probably the best day she ever had in her life.

And the fact that he'd set it all up just for her made her feel so incredibly special.

"Toothless?"

"Hmm?"

"It's just... How did you... H-how did you do all that with the dragons?" she asked, still in amazement at the flawless coordination.

"I mean, being Alpha has its perks."

He winked at her while she stifled a laugh, shaking her head at him. He loved seeing her so happy, but the longer he thought about it the more worried he became.
