Chapter 4
Leafheart awoke at dawn. She glanced at Birdwing's nest. She wasn't there! Leafheart smelled her scent though. She followed the scent trail. This led her to the waterfall. Birdwing was sitting there beside the rushing water. Leaves fell on Leafheart's face. They fluttered around her. I hope Birdwing doesn't think I am spying on her. Luckily Birdwing was talking to herself. "What will I do? Why did I get this gift? How do I tell everyone?" Birdwing paced around a rock.
What is she talking about? What gift? Leafheart was confused but at that moment Birdwing started walking towards her. Did she see me? Leafheart tiptoed into a nearby bush. Just in time! Birdwing passed right by her without spotting her. Once Birdwing was no longer in sight, Leafheart started for the tribe cave.

Later in the afternoon, Pool called Leafheart into his den. "I have a request for you." Pool said. His eyes gleamed mischievously. "I want you and your friends, Snow, Redpelt and Mosstail, to team up with me and kill the tribe. Then we can go to the forest and defeat your enemies!" He explained. "My enemies? What do you mean?" Leafheart asked confused. "The clan cats of course! Remember! They kicked you out of camp!" Pool stated suspiciously. That must of been one of the stories Snow told him! "Um... Yes, of course, our enemies. I was just in a daze, silly me!" Leafheart said saving herself from a long and revealing conversation with Pool. "So what do you say?" Pool pushed. "I need to talk to the others first. Wait! What about Birdwing?" Leafheart wondered.
"She has powers that no one can replace! She can take care of herself!" Pool yelled angrily.
Powers? Birdwing has powers? Everything clacked in Leafheart's mind. This morning Birdwing was talking about a gift. That gift must be a power!
"I'll have an answer tomorrow." Leafheart said
"You have until dawn."

Leafheart explained her conversation with Pool to the others. "What? It's no, absolutely no!" Snow yelled. "We could! Then surprise attack him!" Birdwing suggested. "Oh I forgot to mention that you aren't supposed to come" Leafheart dreaded saying these words but it had to be done. "What? Why!" Birdwing cried. Tears rolled out of her eyes, they shined with sadness. "Something about a power, or something." Leafheart asked nosily. Would Birdwing tell them about her gift/power? "Oh, um that's um so funny! Why would uh I hide something like a um power from you?" Birdwing answered playfully. Her voice was definitely sarcastic. She's hiding something that only Pool and her know about! But what is it?
