Fallpaw followed Cedarberry around the territory, they were nearly done going through everything. I need to prove that I can be a warrior!
"Okay, so this is the clearing. We sometimes train here. The training hollow is just over by the bushes. Can you see, um, I mean scent it?" Cedarberry asked.
"Yep! It smells odd! Mmmm.... I smell squirrel. Can we hunt?" Fallpaw suggested.
"I suppose so, we are done with the tour. But, don't be disappointed if you don't get anything. And, we can't eat what we catch right away, it goes to the elders first." Fallpaw tip-toed to the thicker shrubs. He could sense a tree in front of him, then assumed that the squirrel was below it. Fallpaw was hidden by the leaves and plants. He tried to do the hunters crouch like Snowbreeze had showed him. Snowbreeze had positioned him the right way then Fallpaw had learned the feeling of the crouch. He pounced and landed on something that was shaking. He bit down wherever was in front of him then brought the kill back to Cedarberry.
"Whoa! You caught something! Good job!" Birdwing called. She had apparently joined his mentor.
"I'm pleased! You need to improve the cleanliness but it's good!" Cedarberry praised. Fallpaw immediately sensed Frightpaw, Birdwing's apprentice. She had grown quite brave and wasn't so frightful anymore.
"Great!" She congratulated.
When Fallpaw walked into camp, every cat was proud of him, except for Plantpaw, his arrogant brother. Pounceclaw was murmuring something into his ear though,Fallpaw didn't notice.
"Pounceclaw said that I'm going to be the best fighter!" Plantpaw boasted. Cinderpaw leaned against Fallpaw. She radiated annoyance.
"I caught a squirrel!" Fallpaw announced. He flung the squirrel that was in his jaws towards his brother.
"Eww! You got blood all over me! I bet you didn't even catch it, you're blind!" Plantpaw was disgusted. Fallpaw shuttered at his words, how could his brother be so mean! Cinderpaw gasped.
"Stop it right now! That was rude! I'm telling Sundrop!" At that Plantpaw leaped on to Cinderpaw and Fallpaw could hear him snarling. Something about this didn't seem like play fighting.
"You'll have to get past me first!" Plantpaw threatened. Cinderpaw yelled for help.
" Help! Get off of me! Leave me alone!" She cried. Fallpaw tried to knock Plantpaw off of Cinderpaw. But he missed and threw himself off balance.
"What are you doing!?" A voice growled. Fallpaw recognized it very well. It was Leafheart. She can help my sister!
"Plantpaw let go of Cinderpaw now!" Leafheart was angry, Fallpaw could sense it.
"You'll have to make me!" Plantpaw was attacking his sister ferociously. Fallpaw heard Cinderpaw gasping for air. The medicine cat brushed by Plantpaw and knocked Plantpaw off of Cinderpaw. Fallpaw heard a thud and guessed it was Plantpaw's body. Leafheart seemed worried.
"Lionpaw! Can you get some cobwebs?" Fallpaw could smell blood. Was it his prey? Or his sister?
"I-is she ok?" He asked anxiously. "Don't worry little one, she'll be alright. Could you help me carry her to the medicine cat den please?" Fallpaw assisted Leafheart making sure not to trip or fall behind. Plantpaw followed them.
"You're a fox-heart." He muttered under his breath. Leafheart swung her head behind. "What was that?" She glared at him. Fallpaw hadn't seen it but he could imagine her piercing stare. Once they dropped Cinderpaw in the den. Leafheart called Pounceclaw to bring the two apprentices to Foxstar. I'm going to be in trouble.... what did I exactly do?
Foxstar was disturbed by Plantpaw attacking his litter-mate!
"And what did you do Fallpaw?" He asked. "Nothing, I tried to get Plantpaw off of Cinderpaw but I missed, that's all." He said honestly.
"That isn't true! He attacked me first! Then, Cinderpaw came to fight for him since he can't see, pathetic!" Plantpaw lied.
The words stabbed Fallpaw, like a sharp branch had empaled him.
"Why do I have a hard time believing this?" He turned to Pounceclaw.
"My apprentice would never attack his litter-mate! Plus, it isn't his fault he's a good fighter!" Pounceclaw glanced at his apprentice victoriously.
"Plantpaw, I won't let you train tomorrow, you are confined to camp and Fallpaw, you are confined to camp until three sunrises. " Foxstar sighed. He ushered the cats out of his den. What had just happened? How did Fallpaw get in more trouble then Plantpaw! Fallpaw was innocent! Leafheart crossed him and said. "What's wrong Fallpaw?"
"I got in trouble, Foxstar confined me to camp for three sunrises." He announced sadly. Leafheart touched his nose then walked in the direction of Foxstar's den. Is she going to argue with the leader?
