".....Birdwing!" Everybody was astonished. They started to yell "Birdwing, Birdwing, Birdwing!" Many cats were yelling queitly, almost whispering. They were all under a shock. "But she is still new to the clan! Any cat deserves it more then she does!" Doubletip hissed. He was very critical of Foxstar's decisions since he was very close to becoming deputy until Foxstar rolled along.
"Birdwing deserves it. She saved Leafheart and is a great leader. She has a gift Starclan gave to her. It must mean she is very special and deserves a position like this." Foxstar retorted. Goldpaw stared at Leafheart, she gazed at her friend proudly. He wondered if she had ever wanted to become deputy. But, she can't she's a medicine cat. His mind whirled into thought as Foxstar proceeded with the deputy ceremony. Once he was done, Leafheart motioned for Goldpaw to listen. Goldpaw raised his head, he waited patiently for the cats to settle down.
"Snow, I would like to give you a warrior name. It will mean you are officially accepted in ThunderClan. Sun will also need a warrior name." Foxstar explained. Snow looked disappointed about having to give up his name, but wanted to be loyal to his clan. Sun glanced at him, nervously. Her kits were sitting beside her, confused of why their mother's name had been called out. Both former tribe cats walked up to high-rock.
"I now name you Snowbreeze and Sundrop!" Foxstar smiled. He loved naming warriors, it was one of his favourite leader duties.
"Thank you!" Snowbreeze mumbled. Sundrop said it louder and happier. She glared at her brother for being disrespectful.
"Your welcome, meeting dismissed." Foxstar announced. His face was full of mixed emotions, he felt bad for Snowbreeze, although he didn't know what he had done wrong.
Goldpaw, went into the medicine cat den. He was followed by Sandpaw, the new medicine apprentice. He was hesitant about what to say to the new comer. Sandpaw had always been the wisest out of the litter. Her sandy coloured pelt and her emerald eyes made her a pretty little she-cat. Goldpaw gulped, he was nervous about what Leafheart had said out there. Am I really ready to have my naming ceremony? Leafheart snapped him out of his thoughts and welcomed Sandpaw. "Hello, Sandpaw! I am glad you have chosen the path of a medicine cat. It takes a lot of work, you need to be on time at all times and you must be concentrated." Goldpaw could hear the doubt in Leafheart's words. He knew she was not hopeful about Sandpaw staying as a medicine cat. "Let's start with reviewing some herbs....." Leafheart began explaining the types of herbs. Once she was done, she directed Sandpaw to the fresh kill pile and told her to bring some to the elders. Sandpaw left the den, leaving only Leafheart and Goldpaw.
"How are you feeling about getting your name?" She asked.
"Fine, just a lot of pressure. I know you wouldn't of said it if you wouldn't of ment it." He replied shortly. Leafheart was acting like his mother, he hated when she did I that.
"We will hold your naming ceremony next moon. It would be a good time. You can help with the apprentice, though I am not sure she will stay." Leafheart's face turned from caring to serious.
"I know, I could tell from the moment you spoke you were doubtful." Goldpaw sighed.
"I think she will leave. Don't repeat this, but it wouldn't be a bad thing since I am thinking of taking Fallkit as a medicine cat. He is blind after all."
Goldpaw looked his mentor in the eyes. Was she hoping for Sandpaw to quit? Does she want Fallkit instead?
