Chapter 5

Leafheart collected some herbs on the edge of Windclan territory. They had always been quite friendly to ThunderClan, so their border was the safest to get herbs from. She couldn't help but wonder how Shadowclan was doing. Ever since Frownstar had been named leader, the clan hadn't seemed so..... Evil. Leafheart remembered how her father Eastflight had told her about their previous leader Mintstar. She was the meanest leader ever. Leafheart sighed as she thought of her late father and mother. She barely had known her mother, Cloudgaze, since she died right after Leafheart, Mosstail and Foxstar had been born. Eastflight had died a few moons later. Her thoughts were interrupted as Icestar, the Windclan leader ran towards her. He was followed by Fairtail, the medicine cat and Lostbreeze, a loyal Windclan warrior.
"We need to speak to Foxstar!" Icestar announced.
"Now! It's important!" Fairtail pressed. Leafheart just nodded and guided them towards camp. She chose the most exposed path so the Windclan cats wouldn't get a free tour of ThunderClan territory. What could possibly be so urgent that the leader, medicine cat and warrior had to come for?
Once in camp, all eyes were on the three Windclan visitors.
"Why are they here? Is there an invasion!" Lionkit squealed. His litter-mates flexed their claws and started to play fight.
"Hush now! And if you were warriors and if it was a battle, attacking each other wouldn't help." Sundrop glared. Birdwing came up to the visitors and nodded, she turned to Leafheart "How come their here?"
"Apparently they need to speak with Foxstar." Leafheart replied bitterly. Something about this didn't seem right.
"Well, Foxstar is gone on hunting patrol. So, you may speak to me." Birdwing squinted her eyes suspiciously. At that moment, Foxstar strolled into camp with a plump vole in his mouth. He dropped into the fresh kill pile and hurried over to his deputy.
"Now, it looks like we have visitors!" He said joyfully. He had always admired Icestar and had become pretty close to him.Icestar dipped his head to the young leader.
"We have something urgent to tell you." Explained Icestar. Fairtail nodded but Lostbreeze just looked in the direction they had taken from Windclan. He's always been sort of a grump....
"Well then, come to my den." He motioned for them as well as Birdwing and Leafheart to come.
"We want to talk to you privately! You two don't need to come." Lostbreeze mumbled.Icestar glared at him.
"Anything you have to say me, my deputy and medicine cat will hear it too." Foxstar retorted. Lostbreeze just rolled his eyes and followed them into the den.
"Thank you for your time Foxstar." Fairtail started. Her eyes gleamed with plead. They must need something! But what?Icestar spoke next.
"We need your help...." He looked doubtfully towards Lostbreeze.
"Lostbreeze is receiving some threats from Shadedburrow, one of our best warriors. He wants him out of the clan simply because of Lostbreeze being at his sister, Tunnellight's death. He is in danger of being murdered in Windclan, we need him to come here, to be safe, that's all Shadedburrow wants."
Foxstar was stunned.
"This better not be a trick..." Birdwing was still suspicious about the whole idea.
"I promise it isn't. And to make you believe me, Starclan told me." Fairtail said convincingly. Birdwing gave a threatening look at her.
"You better not be lying..."
"Medicine cats don't lie, at least I don't." Fairtail responded. Leafheart glared at Birdwing for testing Fairtail's honesty. Her friend had to calm down, the Windclan medicine cat wouldn't lie. Fairtail was the most honest and friendliest medicine cat that she knew.
"I've decided that we could take him in, but if this is a trick i do get to keep him and he will be confined to our camp unfil we can trust home. And we will fight and win the battle that we will start for spying and trickery." Foxstar finally spoke. Birdwing gasped, but Leafheart wasn't to surprised. Icestar seemed quite genuine and assurance from Starclan helped him along.
"Thank you. And I promise that this is completely true and that Lostbreeze will stay here and lay his loyalties here." Icestar said. Fairtail and Icestar left Lostbreeze with the three a Thunderclan cats.
What have we gotten ourselves into....
