Relieve swept over Leafheart as Shiara was announced dead. Snowbreeze, was the hero. He had killed Shiara. Even though, you can win a battle without killing, she felt it was necessary to get rid of the evil she-cat. Leafheart padded on the path, leading back to camp. While the warriors scurried up to camp, she walked slowly, falling behind. She was thinking about how she would announce Salttail's death to Goldpatch. She was Goldpatch's mother, his friend. Salttail was a somewhat gruff cat, but loved her son dearly. I feel terrible for Goldpatch.
Camp was calm. The tenseness that was there when Leafheart left camp was gone. All cats whispered in small groups mainly divided by age. Apprentices huddled together, boasting about their roles in the battle, senior warriors spoke of strategy and new warriors talked about their experience and battle moves. Kits were swiping at each other, pretending to be warriors defeating Shiara.
"Why do I always have to be Shiara?" Plantkit whined. His siblings Fallkit and Cinderkit leaped on top of him, throwing him over. Lionkit, their brother took no interest in the playing and was in deep thought, talking to himself.
"Because you look the most like her!" Cinderkit answered. It was true, the tortoiseshell tom looked very similar to Shiara (also a tortoiseshell).
Out of all of the cats chatting and playing, Goldpatch was no where to be seen. He must be in the medicine cat den. She stuck her head to see, he wasn't there either. She looked more closely and entered the den. Nope. She walked out of the den in the direction of the elders den.
"Hey! Watch where you're putting your nose!" An aggravated voice grumbled. Leafheart lifted her head to see a white Tom glaring down at her.
"Lostbreeze! I'm so sorry, I got distracted..." She was about to explain that Goldpatch was missing, but he interrupted her.
"Whatever. Have you seen Goldpatch?" His face was filled with worry. Right! They're friends!
"No! I'm looking for him as well! Where have you checked?" Leafheart questioned. Lostbreeze said that he had searched all over camp. Sandpaw hurried over to them, saying that she was trying to find Goldpatch too.
"He went to get some herbs by the Shadowclan border." She announced. Leafheart's face turned pale. Was he....no, he couldn't have been...
"What? Why? Do you know where he is?" Lostbreeze demanded looking stressed.
"Salttail died there.... he might of seen it..." Leafheart said. The two cats glanced at each other.
"Leafheart, you don't suppose he's hiding or well, ran away because of his mother's death?" Sandpaw suggested.
"I never thought of that... we'll wait for him. If he doesn't turn up by dawn, we'll ask for a search patrol." Leafheart said.A quarter moonlater...
Leafheart was depressed. She couldn't believe that Goldpatch had runaway. After searching for two days, Thunderclan asked the other clans if theyhad spotted him. They hadn't. Everyone came to the conclusionthat Goldpatch had fled the clans. Leafheart had no idea where.
Shadowclan was starting to heal. Mousetail was chosen as deputy by, Dawnstar, their new wiseleader. Peace had finally come back, though, there was still somethingmissing. Goldpatch.
