Wednesday had the potential to stretch out long and lonely, so the children and I filled it with a thorough deep clean of our entire apartment. I hated to strip the sheets that smelled of Jin but I consoled myself with the thought that those at his apartment would smell as good, minus the booze. We scrubbed and disinfected and sorted, removing 2 grocery bags of unneeded items that had somehow managed to accumulate.
Completing the process at 3, we headed out to a cafe to celebrate. Over fancy cotton candy drinks, the children shared further details of their amazing day with Bangtan. Brigette had spent the last of her allowance buying a churro to share with Hobi and he was so delighted with her gesture that they had travelled the next hour with her seated on his shoulders. Atticus laughed telling me how he and V had destroyed each other in laser tag before luring Namjoon in and ganging up on him. Apparently he had put up a good fight but was thoroughly destroyed by the pair. Éowynn had bitten down her fear to ride several very scary rides with Jungkook. As the day progressed, she had grown braver and their final ride was the 2 person sling shot, wherein the riders were harnessed together and shot up into the sky, suspended on a double cable. My mouth fell open that she had the courage for this. Apparently someone had a video of their ride on their cell phone. I was going to have to see that. Cheridynn had focused her day entirely around Jimin. Ever the gentleman, he was happy to oblige. Her favourite ride had been the water tube one in which they were seated across from each other turning the craft by spinning the wheel in the middle. At the fireworks, she had been wet from the ride and Jimin placed a blanket around them both. I was going to have to talk to that boy.
I didn't hear from Jin beyond a text letting me know they had arrived and he missed me. It was late at night when my phone told me of a video chat. Midnight again. Were the boys just stopping now? Sure enough, Jin had just showered from dance practice again and was waiting for his first meal of the day to come with room service. Ugh. The concert schedule was in full swing just like that.
"Thank you for the airplane letter. I loved hearing from you in the air like that." I couldn't help but grin.
"My pleasure. I always asked my friends for similar letters. Makes you feel connected to what you are leaving behind." He nodded.
"It did. It really did." He ran his hand through his damp locks, then furrowed his brow. "Oh, yes...I have a problem to discuss with you..." He left the camera, only to come back a moment later with a folded up paper. He opened it and began to read. "Number 1. Tell me I am beautiful even when I am not. 2. Give me a letter from you. 3. Let me spend a night holding you. 4. Teach me to cook your favourite dish. And 5. Teach me how you like to be kissed." I was blushing. He sighed.
"What? What's wrong? That's my list. I was going to add 'Let us take a picture together' but got shy." Jin chuckled, the sound warm and deep.
"You got shy? We both know you aren't shy." We laughed together.
"True. So what's the problem?" Jin shook his head, his dark mane falling over his eyes.
"There isn't one thing on here that I can buy at a store." His frustration made his voice fade into a whine. This made me laugh again.
"So? There isn't a single thing that I need from you that can be purchased."
"I can afford to bring you something nice from our travels. I have money."
"I know. Money you worked your butt off to get. I have money too. I don't need yours." Even through the screen, Jins' eyes were steady, staring at my face.
"When I get back, it will be our 100 day. I will bring you something special." I smiled.
"I will get you something too. But Jin-Ah, what I want is you. There is nothing more special than that." He flopped onto his bed, laughing.
