"Your father? You had a child with your father?" Jin was incredulous.
The door pushed open and Yoongi came in, pulling it shut behind him. His eyebrows were mixed with his bangs. He wanted in on this conversation.
Diva was staring down her father. JinYoung was staring into space, a deer in headlights look frozen on his features.
"He's not my father." Diva spoke, low. "He is my stepfather."
"Stepfather?" Jin was speaking just above a whisper.
Diva nodded.
"I don't know my real father. I never met him. My mother married Woo Sung, here, when I was 5. She died when I was 12, leaving me with him." Diva said him with such venom that it practically dripped from her lips. Woo Sungs' eyes narrowed at her.
JinYoung was gazing at the two people standing before him, mouth agape, eyes wide. He was a goldfish out of water, utterly in shock.
"But your mom was in the hospital..." Jin was trying to make sense of things.
"My stepmother. She isn't much older than I am." Jin nodded.
The room was silent for a long time.
I swallowed hard, disjointed thoughts coming together in mixed pieces. One resounding thought rang hard between my ears.
"Wait...so, you, Mr. Woo Sung, were left in charge of Mi Ja, and you became abusive to her, and then you fathered a child with this...child?! Your own daughter?" The angry crack in my voice made even me shudder to hear it. I had moved up in front of him.
He turned to face me.
"My stepdaughter."
"It doesn't matter."Now I was shaking all over, horrified at the breach of trust that had been inflicted on a young girl. A girl the age of my own children now. A girl who very well could have been one of my students. "You were supposed to protect her. You were the only one she had left. And you...you took advantage!" His handsome face looked distorted through the veil of rage that was rising up like bile within me. Woo Sung lifted his chin, peering down at me arrogantly.
I couldn't control it now.
"You son of a bitch." With a low whisper, my own hand revolted, snaking out and colliding smartly with Woo Sungs' cheek, ringing with a resounding slap. I saw the anger flash in his eyes and it hit me like a punch to the gut. He had no right to be angry; Diva did. This sick pig should be grovelling at her feet, begging for forgiveness. "She was a child!" Now the left hand came up and echoed the motion, leaving another furious handprint on the opposite cheek. Woo Sung stepped toward me but was immediately intercepted by Yoongi and SeokJin.
"Don't even think about it." Jin growled. Woo Sung glared from Jin to Yoongi to Diva to me, one hand rubbing the hot welt on his face.
"It was a long time ago. I have made my amends."
"Yes. With money." I spat at him. "But have you done right by your son? There he is." I gestured at JinYoung.
When all eyes turned his direction, JinYoung started backing up, as though he was the prey to a ferocious predator.
"You're my dad? Diva...Mi Ja...is my mom?" He backed up to the wall and slid down it to a seated position on the floor, holding his head in his hands. "Diva is my mother?" The poor kid was going to have an aneurysm.
Diva knelt beside him, her face the softest I had ever seen. She ran her fingers over JinYoungs' cheeks.
"I am. You're my sweet baby boy. Do you remember me at all?" A tear ran down her cheek, JinYoungs' doe eyes glued to hers.
