Chapter 4

Greg's P. O. V.

Man, I don't even know what to say.

How was it possible? The only girls I knew were not related to me, as far as I know. But then again, if Holly Hills was my sister, I would be over the moon. Coming back to reality though, I'm still reeling from shock, and my mind started to think. The only possible answer is that Mom had a previous relationship with someone else, or that I'm adopted.

"Really?" I asked. Mom and Dad nodded.

"Yes. And I think you would want to know what happened." Mom said, before continuing, "About fifteen years ago, I met a Chinese man when I was in university. We fell in love, got married and had you and your sister. You were twins, of course. Charlotte was the younger one by 5 minutes. We were all very happy and lived a peaceful life.

Then one day, your biological dad came home with the worst news I have ever heard in my life. He said that his parents, whom he was estranged from, found out that we were married and were livid. They ordered him to separate from me, since they were those kind of traditional Chinese people who expects their only son to marry a Chinese woman from a good family, even though he was enraged from them. Your father, he did a noble thing. To protect us, he sacrificed a huge part of his life. He willingly got a divorce for us. I was really sad and desperate, I tried talking to him about using a different way to solve this, but he wouldn't hear it. He told me when he was in high school, he dated this girl who was a really nice person. But his parents didn't approve, and they did some nasty thing to her that I will not mention, which was why he was willing to do so much. It was then that I realised the severity of this situation. I had no choice. For you and your sister, we broke. Of course, I took you with me.

After a few months, I met your non biological father. It was really love at first sight, and soon we got married and we settled down. When we had Manny, we made a pact that we will not let Manny have the life that you had to go through. This is why sometimes we favor Manny but we still love you all the same." At that, Mom started tearing up. I knew exactly how she felt, but I couldn't bring myself to comfort her. I could not believe that my own over-enthusiastic mother, gone through so much, but what was even more unbelievable was that I am half Chinese. I mean, I don't look like one at all!

"Mom, does that mean I'm... Chinese?" I asked, struggling to speak properly.

"Yes, Greg. You are half Chinese but you took after me, and Charlotte took after your dad. Oh, one more thing. Your paternal grandparents allowed your father to take one of the twin, the one that looks more Asian, so as to uphold their reputation." Mom added.

All of a sudden, a surge of anger overwhelmed me. How could people be so selfish? Reputation over blood? Who are they kidding?! Worst of all, they didn't want me, although I was also equally important?! Hurt stabbed my insides and involuntarily, a lone bead of saltwater trickled down my cheek. Mom, upon seeing that, reached out and enveloped me in a bear hug and the rest of the family joined in.

"Greg," Dad said after we broke the hug, "Remember, we will always be here for you no matter what. Although I am not your real dad, I will love you the same."
Those words were possibly the most comforting words I have ever heard from my father.

Then, Rodrick asked the question.

"If you were in a previous relationship, Mom, what about me?"

Finally, a chapter at last!! The bad news is, Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Twin sister), had downgraded to Rank 26 :(( I will work harder to regain my title, but for now, back to the story.
