Charlotte's P. O. V.

Ever since the new week started, I've been noticing that Greg and his best friend, Rowley haven't been talking much, other than in class discussions. But even then, he seemed rather cold and awkward with Rowley.

This was rather odd to me, because they hang out at each others' homes practically everyday. My best guess was that they had a fight and I felt bad. Not because it was my fault, but I didn't like to see people fighting with their best friends, something I rarely experienced.

That was why I excused myself from the 'popular' table to go and talk to Rowley.

"Hey Rowley," I said, "Mind if I seat with you today?"

He looked up and nodded.

"Nope, it's alright. But why all of a sudden though?"

"I've been seeing you eat alone recently and I thought you might feel lonely," I explained, "And also because I know you quarreled with Greg..."

A look of realization hit him.

"So you want to ask me what happened?"

"Yea, because I don't know what exactly happened and I only heard his side of the story so maybe if I heard yours I'll know who's wrong and who's not," I said, trying to make my purpose sound as innocent as possible.

"But why do you want to know?" Rowley asked, a bit confused.

"Well, people say that I'm good at listening to their problems and helping them," I replied. It was true, at least to the people that I helped. It could be friendship problems or just a shoulder to cry on, but I could solve all their problems.

After saying that, Rowley looked more convinced and proceeded to tell me the whole story.

Turns out that it was jealousy. Jealousy that Greg, could go with a playdate, even if it was just a playdate, with Holly Hills.

"I mean, haven't you noticed that he's gotten a lot more popular recently, like the popular people say hi to him and all that?" he asked me, a bit frustrated.

Looking at his genuinely clueless face, he probably didn't realise that he's implying that Greg got popular was because of me. Greg did tell me I "boosted his popularity", though he wasn't arrogant about it. He was happy and I was glad for him, but maybe I should've know something like this wound happen sooner or later. Drama/friendship problems because of popularity.

Still, I felt weird. That didn't stop us from haking a long conversation though.

When Rowley and I were walking down the corridor, I spotted Greg talking with Chirag Gupta. He looked confused and kind of mad when he saw that I was with Rowley.

"At home," I mouthed to Greg.

"So I'll come over to your house later on for the science project?" I confirmed with Gregory. He nodded.

Just then, I spotted Charlotte, but she was walking with Rowley! Didn't Greg tell me that he and Rowley had a fight? Why was Charlotte walking while talking with him, when it's going to make thing awkward for Greg?

"Gregory! Why is your sister with Rowley?" I asked. Well, it turns out that Greg didn't know why too. He had this weird look on his face and I've only seen it once; when he went to school in pyjamas because his brother tricked him.

"I-I'm not sure either, but she just mouthed to me that she'll explain at home," he replied.

"Ah well, I hope things go fine for you," I said as we slowly walked back to class.

I was on my bed texting with my friends when Greg knocked on the door. I got down and opened the door.

"So are you going to explain? Chirag is coming soon, you know," he said, folding his arms.

"Okay I'll tell you. I was only talking to him to find out what exactly happened," I explained, but Greg didn't seem to buy it.

"Are you telling the truth? I know you're my twin, but are you going to side with Rowley? Like be the perfect sister and all?" Greg said, voice level increasing.

I was taken aback by his words. How could he say something like that to me? I wanted to help him! An unspeakable feeling filled me and I looked at him in disbelief.

"Greg, I think you're going a bit too far. I don't like seeing people, especially my brother, my twin brother, having friendship problems. I just wanted to resolve-"

I couldn't finish my sentence, because the doorbell rang and that meant Chirag was here. Greg looked at me.

"We'll talk about this later," he said, rushing out of my room.

Charlotte was wrong, she just wanted to be the perfect sibling. I know Mom preferred her, just because she was so perfect and smart. I know Mom told her to help me get rid of my problems like procrastination and all that. But did she really have to do it in such an obvious way?

"So shall we do a report on butterflies?" Chirag asked, startling me. It was then that I realised he had been talking to me for the past few minutes about what we should do.

"Oh uh yea. That will be great," I replied hastily and soon we were researching and taking down notes.

After two hours of research and writing information onto a large sheet of paper, we were almost done. I have to say this was the fastest time I've ever taken to do a project!

"Gregory, I'll print the pictures out and we'll stick them on tomorrow," Chirag said.

"That's great. Thanks Chirag. Wanna play Twisted Wizard's three?" I asked. However, Chirag said he needed to go home as his curfew was in twenty minutes. Aw that sucks.

Waving goodbye to Chirag, my heart felt a pang as I realised there wasn't anyone I could hang out with and have fun. Well, other than… Rowley.

I sighed, thinking back of the old times, where we were still best buddies. How my antics made him laugh, the silly adventures we gotten into, and our common interests. I realised I didn't want to be mad at Rowley anymore. I could definitely talk to Charlotte, but what if she's mad at me?

You know, you're the older brother, you need to apologise if you did something wrong, Gregory Junior, the little voice in my head who's always giving me advice said. Actually, what he said was right.

Slowly and reluctantly, I went to Charlotte's room.

"I'm sorry for what I said just now," I said, not really daring to look at her. A stifled laugh could be heard. I looked up.

"That, was very amusing. But yes, apology accepted," Charlotte replied, "Still need my help?" I nodded.

"Well that's easy. Just go to Rowley's and talk it over. Keep talking until you guys are good," was all she said.

"Wait that's all?" How could it be so simple?

"Well, yes. Trust me, Greg, it ain't easy. And also, trust your sister," she replied.

"Okay then," I said, going back to my room, thinking about what I should say to Rowley.

Well, that was a boring and cliché chapter. Looks like my brain cells are half dead when I was writing. Sigh…

School has been especially hard on me, with me staying back after school everyday this week, working on projects, etc. I'm sorry if this chapter didn't please you. I'll try to think of something more interesting, I promise.
