Charlotte's P. O. V.
The soft sound of my alarm resounded in my ears, waking me up from my peaceful sleep. Rubbing my eyes, I rolled over to my night stand and checked the time.
6:50 a.m.
Groggily, I stumbled to my closet to pick my clothes. The first day of school... what should I pick? I need to have a good first impression, so nothing too antisocial. Ah, denim shorts. They match with practically anything. Now that I picked out my shorts, I headed over my shirts.
"Yea, I guess this should be alright," I murmured to myself, placing a coral pink top over myself.
After I changed, I headed over to the bathroom to wash up, before heading to kitchen, where the smell of bacon greeted me.
"Morning mom, morning dad." I greeted my parents, taking my seat at the dining table.
"Oh you're up early sweetie. Have some bacon, the toast will be ready soon. Would you like any jam or butter?" Mom asked, offering me two jars.
"No it's alright. I like plain toast. Do you want me to wake up Greg?" I asked.
"Sure, but wake up Rodrick first. He's a really hard one to wake." Dad cut in, chuckling. I laughed, before heading down to the basement.
I flung open the door, remembering what Greg said. I rushed over to his bed and yelled, "Rodrick Heffley wake up now! You are going to be late for school! It's 7:10 and you haven't had breakfast. School starts at eight!"
"Mmph." Rodrick grunted, continuing to sleep. I sighed, looks like I have no other choice. I switched on my mobile data and went on YouTube. My data's going to run out soon, and I don't have an American number. I searched 'Screams to wake people up' and found a perfect scream.
"Rodrick you leave me with no choice." I said as I pressed the play button.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" A terrible bloodcurdling scream filled the room and Rodrick flew out of his covers, face pale. I burst into peals of laughter as I paused the video.
"I got you good." I smirked, before telling him to hurry.

"So later when we reach school, you'll take me to the office and the administration staff. You and Rowley will go to class first to get a good seat and Holly will save one for me." I repeated what Greg said to me.He nodded, "Yea and hopefully you won't attract too much attention. I attracted too much attention sometimes, and I can tell you it's not very nice."
"I hope so too. But half of my followers are from Singapore, so I guess I'm safe." I replied, and as we rounded a corner, Westmore Middle School came into sight.
It was much more different from what I expected. It was bigger, of course and the way the building was shaped was slightly messier, but in a way that I liked. As I climbed up the stairs, I felt... honoured. Yet, my anxiety chose to attack me at that moment, ruining its significance.
"What's first period, by the way?" I asked as we neared the front door.
"English. I bet you anything and the teacher hates me thanks to Rodrick. But we'll have half an hour with our form teachers first to get briefed about the year's events," Greg replied, rolling his eyes at the part about Rodrick, "Anyway, here it goes."
Greg pushed open the door and a loud buzz immediately filled my ears. Students were along the dozens in cliques and groups, leaning against lockers and chatting, some gossiping. Greg waved to a bunch of guys, who gawked at me with that look before turning away, slightly abashed. Middle school seemed so new and fun, I couldn't wait to start. Especially note-taking. For some reason, it has a therapeutic effect on me when my notes are neat.
"Alright. Here's the office. The staff will show you the way to class, see you later." Greg said as he and Rowley waved, before we separated ways.
"Like it or not, Charlotte, you gotta open this door." I told myself as I pushed open the door. The cool blast of air conditioning greeted me and the front desk clerk greeted me with a smile.
"Hi dear, is there anything you need?"
"Uh, yea. I'm a new student here, seventh grade. I think my dad exchanged with the school a few emails before?" I replied, nervously fiddling with my bag strap.
"Ah I see. Welcome to Westmore! Is your dad Bob Chang?"
"Yes he is," I said, relieved. The clerk nodded before bending behind the counter, only to come up with a ring of keys.
"Come with me, dear," the clerk said as she walked out of the door and I followed suit.
"So in every school, every student will have a locker to him or herself. It can be used to store your school books for the day, extra essentials, and so on. Each locker has a key, your locker number is on the key. Yours is 847, so it's around... here."
We approached a locker which had '847' on it and she opened it.
"Alright, you can put your books that you don't need before lunch here," she said as she opened the door. I bent down to retrieve my notebooks and textbooks plopped them on the top shelf. Then the clerk taught me how to use my locker and after giving me directions to my class, she smiled and walked off.
"So after I go up a floor I turn left and walk to the third classroom," I muttered to myself, before finding myself outside Homeroom 7-2. I could vaguely hear a teacher talking to students and when I spotted Holly sitting at the second row I knew I got the right class.
I took a deep breath, prepared myself for gawks and stares, and opened the door.
"...so that's why the school is-" the teacher paused halfway when I opened the door. Just like I predicted, many people turned to look at me. Especially boys. Just great.
The teacher turned to me and asked gently, "Hello there, are you a new student here?"
I nodded, "Yes, I'm Charlotte."
