The blazing hot sun peered through my curtains, hitting me in the face. I groaned as I rolled over, falling off my bed. I jumped up. I ran a hand through my hair and laid back down. I stared at my wall, facing away from the window. My phone that laid two feet away from me lit up. I grabbed it and saw that Amber Johnson snapchatted me. Amber! Shit! Amber fucking gorgeous Johnson snapchatted me. She was stunning; the most beautiful girl in school. She had long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She was tall; just a few inches taller than me. This was something that never happened to me. She had never said a word to me out of school before. I'm all gross and shit and Amber is like oh my god how the fuck is she Pansexual and not straight she's looks like a fucking model oh my fucking god fuck me and I can't even explain. I smacked myself to come back to reality. I opened the snapchat. It was a picture of Amber's cat captioned "hey ;)" but why would Amber want to talk to me?
"Rico!" I whispered loudly. I whistled. My corgi ran in. He jumped on the bed, more specifically, he jumped on my nonexistent boobs. I shoved him off me onto the bed. I waited until he laid down and closed his eyes halfway to take a picture. Thank god for Rico. I rubbed his belly and captioned the picture "hello :3" and sent it. Rico saved my ass. Amber opened it moments later and starts typing. Oh shit. Now I'm gonna have to talk to her.
Amber:
Sorry that was meant for my friend Jess. Cute dog btw :)And there goes the heartbreak. Or relief. Or both. Definitely both.
Me:
It's cool. Your cat is cute too.Amber:
Thanks, but she's actually my sisters. she's just visiting from college and she came with her cat.Why is Amber still talking to me?
Me:
I see. She's still a cute cat.Amber:
haha yeah, but she doesn't get along with my dog.Me:
You have a dog? What breed?Amber:
He's a Labrador retriever mixed with something else but he's cute that's all that I care about tbh.Me:
Same!Amber:
I gotta go, nice talking to you.Me:
You too. cya.I just had a conversation with fucking Amber Johnson and I didn't puke this time! I sighed. No homework, and my mother wouldn't be home for another. Why not go for a walk to kill time? I jumped out of bed and grabbed my backpack. I dumped out most of my books and put my sketchpad inside, along with my pencil case. I was always fond of drawing and painting. It was just a hobby, nothing more. Not something I wanted to pursue in life, but I enjoyed doing it when I had the inspiration and time to kill. I wouldn't call myself a good artist, but I wasn't bad for someone self taught who had two parents who were not creative at all. My father was a Master Sergeant in the Marine Corps and my mother was a customer service rep. How I wish my father was home more than my mother. She had to be the worst goddamn mother ever. She drank until she passed out or puked, or both, and would beat me when she could stand. I grabbed Rico's leash and clipped it onto his collar.
"Get up." I grunted as he ignored my gentle tugs on his leash. He finally stood up and hobbled off my bed and out the door. I slung my backpack over my back and followed him out the door and down the stairs. I walked out the front door into the cold, spring air. It was a bit refreshing, but also too cold at the same time. The park was just a short walk down the road, but I always took the long way. I was desperate for the exercise. I continued on down through a nearby neighborhood. It was peaceful; no cars; no people; no birds. Just Rico and me. I turned down a street and could see the park just on the other side. Cars zoomed by without minding pedestrians trying to cross the road. I reached the crosswalk and waited for the road to be clear. I wouldn't risk putting Rico in danger, but maybe If I was alone I would just go whenever. I was like that; I wasn't afraid of being in danger or getting hurt or worse. I finally was able to cross and I lightly jogged across the road and entered the park. Walking through the park, I had five things on my mind. Getting a job, saving up for a car, Amber Johnson, getting to befriend Amber Johnson, and why Rico sniffs every fucking thing he sees. I wasn't going to be able to get a job with my mother needing me to do everything around the house and without a job, I couldn't save up for a car. And who was I kidding? Amber would never want to be my friend. The park was full of people walking and kids playing and running around. It was nice. I approached the massive oak tree that was in the center of the park. It was shady on one side, so I sat in the shade. I allowed Rico to run around close by me and when he gets too far, I called him back. I pulled my sketchbook out of my backpack and started looking around for inspiration. All that comes to mind is Amber Johnson. Then a lightbulb goes on and I started drawing. I didn't take a break to look for Rico, I just drew. I blocked out all my surroundings except for my pen and paper. I finally finished and looked at my piece of work. A girl at a pride parade. She stood upon a hill looking up at the parade. Her hair disheveled, face streaked with tears, and eyes are bloodshot. She is too afraid to come out, so she stays hidden. She cannot go to a parade to celebrate her pride because she has no pride in being the way she is and she hates herself for that and she is left out of everything. She is me.
