I sat on my front steps, tying my shoe as I waited patiently for Amber. We were going on another date, but she wouldn't tell me where to. I still could not get over the fact that she kissed me last night. I didn't go in for the kiss, she did. Amber fucking Johnson kissed me. The events that had occurred in the past few days were astonishing to me. A few minutes passed and Amber's white BMW pulled up in front of my house. I grabbed my water bottle and phone as I stood up and walked to her car. I smiled at her as I opened the door and climbed in.

"Hey." She said.

"Hi." I said as I shut my door.

"Ready to go?" She asked.

"Yep. So where exactly are we going?" I asked. She told me absolutely nothing, except not to wear open toed shoes, a dress, or a skirt. So I was wearing black leggings, an oversized blue sweater, and vans. Amber on the other hand was wearing light jean shorts, a red tank top, a white cardigan, white converse, and a few necklaces and bracelets.

"You'll see." She grinned as she drove down the road. I sighed happily and looked forward. "Just don't worry about it, alright? It's gonna be fun."

"I hate surprises, but fine." I said.

"Really?" She asked.

"Yep. Last surprise I got was when I was six. There was a clown at my birthday party and my parents didn't tell me he was coming before hand and I already hated clowns at the time and my mom kept saying there was a surprise for me and then I walked into my backyard, saw the clown, started screaming and crying and I ran inside." I explained. Amber laughed a bit. We both looked at each other when she stopped at a red light.

"I swear it's a fun surprise. Not a clown." She stated.

"Alright." I replied. The light turned green and she began driving once again.

After a thirty minute car ride, Amber finally stopped driving. We were at a lake. We both climbed out of the car and I walked to her side.

"A lake?" I asked.

"Yep. We're not swimming, so don't worry." She said as she walked to the rear door and opened it. A picnic basket was on the seat. Fuck me. Why a picnic? Yeah, it's all romantic but why did I get dragged into this? She picked up the picnic basket and shut the door.

"Come on." She said. I began to follow behind her, keeping my distance. She turned back after a few minutes. "Something wrong?"

"No, not at all." I said.

"Good." She said, waiting until I was caught up to her. "It seems nice over here." She added as she walked towards a shady willow tree by the lake.

"Agreed." I said as I followed her, trailing behind once again. She set down the picnic basket and grabbed the blanket. Amber sprawled out the blanket as I kept my distance to allow her to set up. She placed the basket on the blanket and began to unpack it. I walked over and sat down in one corner. She pulled out a bottle of what appeared to be sparkling water and set it against the tree roots.

"Fancy." I smiled. She glanced up at me and smiled before returning to her task of unpacking the basket.

"We're not old enough to buy or drink alcohol." She reminded.

"Very true, but I do enjoy glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon." I grinned. She looked at me shocked.

"Why do you drink fancy wine? When have you drank fancy wine?" Amber asked.

"If I'm going to get drunk, it might as well be something I'll enjoy. The perks of having an alcoholic mother is a surplus of wine and champaign in my house. She gets the stuff for free any chance she can get, but it just sits on a shelf in our basement since she only drinks beer really." I explained.

"Wow. I'm sorry." She said, placing two plates on the blanket, as well as glasses, a plate of watermelon and a large dish of baked ziti. She obviously put a lot of effort into the date.

"Wow, this is nice." I said.

"Thank you." She smiled as she began to scoop food onto a plate. Too. Much. Food. Fuck. This was gonna end up being a long night. Maybe a five mile run would help? I didn't eat breakfast and wasn't planning on having dinner.

"So why this place?" I asked as I admired the beautiful scenery.

"My dad used to take my sister and I here when we were kids. Sometimes my sister and I would sneak off here and our parents would have to come pick us up." She smiled as she gazed out at the lake.

"That's cute." I said.

"Is there anywhere you go that reminds you of your childhood?" She asked, switching her gaze to me.

"I guess a clearing in the woods behind my house. Zac and I used to go there all the time in the winter when we were younger and play in the snow for hours on end." I smiled as the thought came to mind. Before my mom starting beating me everyday. Before the depression and anxiety. Before my eating disorder.

"That's sweet." She said as she handed me a plate of food.

"Thanks." I smiled fakely as I set the plate in my lap and picked up a fork. Amber began eating as I was picking at my food.

"Everything alright?" She asked.

"Yep." I smiled as I took a bite of the baked ziti. Fuck.

After lunch, we admired the lake before it started to rain and we rushed to Amber's car and drove to her house. Her house was quite big. We both climbed out of the car, shut our doors, and rushed to the front steps as the rain poured down onto us. She smiled at me as she was unlocking the front door. We were pretty wet. She unlocked the door and we both walked in. OF course, she let me go first. I admired the big house as I stepped in.

"Nice house." I said as I looked around and she shut the door.

"Thank you." She said, leading me into the living room. She sat on the couch and patted next to her. I sat tensely and she pulled me into her side. I blushed.

"Aren't you worried your parents will come home?" I asked.

"No. They know I'm pan. They don't care who I date as long as I don't date a stoner." She said. Sometimes I forget not all people have it the way I do.

"Then don't date Oliver." I said. She laughed.

"I knew it!" She said. I laughed.

"You're lucky." I said.

"Why?" She asked.

"My mom...she doesn't support gay marriage. And she's really strict." I said.

"I'm so sorry." She said. "What about your dad?" She asked.

"He's awesome. He's laid back and doesn't give a shit and he supports gay marriage. He loves Cody, my mom hates him. He's in the military and he's not home a lot. When he is, anything Zac and I want to do that we can't, we ask him and mom says yes too." I said. "He gets back tomorrow which is so exciting!"

"Oh cool!" She said.

"I can't wait until he gets back because I really want to dye my hair." I said.

"What color?" She asked.

"Red."

"Nice. That's my favorite color." She said.

"Same!" I said. Amber pecked me on the head.

"I like you." She said.

"I like you too." I said.

"No, I like you a lot."

"So do I." I said. She gently nudged me. I sat up and faced her.

"Would you like to be my girlfriend Jordan Miller?" She asked.

"Yes." I smiled. She pulled my chin closer and kissed me.
