My heart was racing as Amber and I walked into school. She was walking ahead of me, but not far. I immediately got some looks. As we walked down the hall towards my locker, I noticed a group of guys look at me and then talk quietly to one another.
"That's the girl who's mom hits her." I heard someone whisper behind me. Now I was furious. How did people know? I covered all my visible bruises with makeup. Nobody I told would tell others. Amber turned back to me.
"Just ignore them." She spoke softly. I nodded and kept my head down as we kept walking.
"Jordan!" I looked up only to see Zac rushing towards me. He embraced me and held me tight. I hugged him back.
"I missed you so much." I said.
"Why did you come?" He let go of me. He looked sad.
"Amber kinda made me." I said.
"Come on." He turned around and started walking down the hall. I looked at Amber.
"I'll be back." I rushed after him and followed him to a fairly empty hallway. He turned around and looked at me.
"Who did you tell?" He asked.
"Just Cody, Amber, Cailyn, and Peyton." I said. "But I told Peyton years ago."
"Somehow the entire school knows. Do you think you may have accidentally told Oliver or Shawn or someone?" He asked. My heart skipped a beat.
"There's a chance I drunkenly told Oliver or Shawn. But it's been over a month since the last time we fucked around." I said. I was hoping I didn't.
"Would Oliver tell people?" He asked. I sighed and looked away.
"Yeah." I said.
"If I find out he did this I'm gonna kill that kid." He said.
"Zac stop!" I sighed.
"He's such a fucking idiot." He was fuming.
"I know. Just let it go. I can handle this." I said. He sighed.
"Alright." He replied. Then the bell rang.
"I'm staying at Amber's for now, but I'm gonna stop by at home today." I said.
"Why?" He asked.
"Because." I didn't let him answer before I walked down the hall. This was gonna be a long ass day.
As soon as I stepped into the cafeteria I could see Amber sitting at a table with my friends as they all ate lunch. She noticed me as I approached the table.
"Where have you been?" Carson asked.
"With teachers." I replied. I spent the first half of lunch making up a test, which I probably bombed. But I don't care. Amber looked at me as I sat down between her and Cody. Oliver was the only one missing.
"Has anyone else heard Luke Maloley talking about his party today?" Tess asked.
"Only a million times." Amber replied as she sipped her water.
"He really needs to shut the fuck up. We get it Luke, you have a pool, a lot of people do!" Carson scoffed.
"He's got a really nice house though." Shawn said.
"I'm gonna go." Cody said.
"Why?" I asked.
"It'll be fun." Cody replied.
