All I saw were bright lights and a white ceiling. The lights were moving. I looked around a bit. I was in a gurney being pushed down the hall by a young male nurse. My whole body ached. I had a tube in my nose that ran down my cheek and disappeared over the side of the gurney. The nurse made eye contact with me.

"You're okay now." That was all he said. I couldn't respond. I just looked straight up. Tears filled my eyes and slowly rolled down my cheeks. But I didn't make a sound. The nurse turned a corner and pushed the gurney through a set of doors and then into another door. Then the gurney stopped moving. I was in a room. The nurse messed with the gurney before looking at me. "Your family will be in shortly." Then he disappeared out of the room. There was a curtain to my side, but I couldn't see around it. Then the curtain was pulled away and I looked. There was Amber. In a hospital gown. Sitting on the side of her bed. Her leg in a cast, her arm in a sling. She started crying when she saw me.

"Hayley said you came in but I couldn't believe it," Amber grabbed crutches next to her leg and stood up with them. She wobbled over, leaned the crutches against the wall, and sat down gently beside me. She stroked my hair. "I had to pull some strings to get moved to this room. What really happened to you?" She asked.

"What did they say happened to me?" I looked up into her beautiful baby blue eyes.

"They said your mom's boyfriend went to your house and found you passed out in the bathroom after you purged. And they said you hit your face which is why it's all bruised." She explained. I laughed a bit, but I started to cough mid laugh. "Hey, easy."

"Yeah right. More like my mom beat the shit out of me. What'd they say about my broken ribs? Do I have a fucked up lung now?" I asked.

"I don't know. Jordan I don't think they're gonna let you leave." Before I could respond, the door opened. Zac walked in. Followed by Uncle Cory. Last time I saw him was dad's funeral. Then Peyton and Cailyn came in. Then the door shut. Amber grabbed her crutches and stood up.

"You could've came to me, kid." Uncle Cory said.

"Or me." Peyton said.

"Jordan...I don't know how I didn't notice. I'm so sorry." Zac said.

"Yeah..." I looked at Amber confused.

"You're gonna get the help you need now." Peyton added. Cailyn stayed silent, but she did keep looking at Amber. Why? Was it necessary to check out my girlfriend right in front of me.

"I'm gonna go wait in the hall. You kids can talk." Uncle Cory said before leaving the room.

"Okay what actually happened?" Zac asked once the door shut.

"What do you think?" I asked.

"Dude you need to start fighting back. You know how!" Peyton said. Amber and Cailyn looked at each other confused.

"It's a Miller thing we know everyone's business." I said.

"Oh." Cailyn said.

"Jordan please tell the cops." Amber pleaded.

"No." Zac, Peyton, and I said in unison.

"What are we even talking about?" Cailyn asked. Peyton and Zac gave me the look. The look that all Millers give to one another when they don't wanna talk.

"My mom beats me basically everyday." I said.

"Why won't you tell the cops?" Cailyn asked.

"If I call the cops it's gonna create family drama and so many issues for me." I said.

"Right." Cailyn said.

"Jordan that shouldn't matter! Your life is at risk!" Amber explained.

"I can handle it. Just one more year of this bull shit and I'm gone." I sighed. Peyton looked at her phone and sighed.
