The text on my phone screen was frightening. I had been staring at it for five minutes.

Zac:
Mom found out. She's flipping out. She just left I assume she's going to Tess or Carson's.

I couldn't just sit around. I had to do something. It hadn't even been twenty four hours since I left home. It was only six. Peyton had left for work, leaving me and Cailyn alone together. Not a bad thing. I learned a lot about her, and she learned a lot about me. She was the middle child in her family and had three older brothers and three younger brothers. The two oldest brothers weren't around for long when she was growing up, the oldest was twelve when she was born and the second oldest was ten. Her other older brother, Daniel, watched over her and made sure she stayed out of trouble. Much like how Zac tried, and failed, to keep me out of trouble. She was a struggling musician in a band, Northern Pride. She was the lead singer. She had moved from Maine to Virginia for college and met two guys and a girl who became her bassist, guitarist, and drummer. She ended up going broke and moving in with her very successful tattoo artist best friend, Peyton, who could've afforded a much nicer house but appreciated the simple things. The more Cailyn told me about herself the more I fell for her charming personality and beautiful looks. I didn't wanna cheat on Amber. I love her. But Cailyn... My phone vibrated in my hand snapping me out of my daze. I looked down at the message on my screen.

Zac:
Call me if you can.

I quickly called Zac and put the phone to my ear. It rang a few times before he finally picked up.

"Ok so Cory called and said she went to his house. She's thinking you'd be stupid to go to Tess or Carson's or Cody's house. I think she's gonna go to Amber's, Shawn's, Oliver's and maybe check Peyton's. You should smash your phone or something. Deactivate it. If she's smart, she'll track it. And remember that Glock 19 dad kept in his nightstand drawer? The locker drawer?" Zac said.

"Yeah what about it?" I asked.

"I'm standing in front of his nightstand with the drawer lock broken off and an empty gun case." My heart skipped a beat. Not only was my mother after me, but she was armed and dangerous. I was suicidal for years, but not as much anymore. I had people who cared about me now, despite knowing all the shit I've been through. I had a reason to live now. I wanted to leave. Get the hell out of this stupid town. I got up off the couch and walked to Cailyn's room. I looked in. She was sitting at her desk on her laptop.

"Hey." I leaned against the doorway. She looked up.

"Oh hey. What's up?" She asked.

"Can you drive me somewhere? I can't be here anymore." I said.

"Why did something happen?" She stood up and walked towards me.

"Yeah. My abusive homophobic shitty excuse for a mother is after me. My brother thinks she's gonna come here." I explained. She looked down at me and sighed.

"Where do you want to go?" She asked.

"I have no idea. Just out of town." I said.

"Alright. Go pack your things." Cailyn said. I turned and walked into the living room. "Hey Jordan?" I turned.

"Yeah?"

"I'm not gonna let your mom hurt you." Cailyn said. I smiled a bit.

"Thank you." I said.

"Don't mention it." Cailyn disappeared back into her room. I walked over to my stuff. I only unpacked by bag of personnel items. I began to collect my items from the coffee table and put them in my bag. I sighed as I zipped up the bag and dropped it by my other bags. Cailyn walked out of her room with two suitcases and a backpack.
