Unexpected

After about an hour of just hugging and talking we decide to head home. I love having gale. He's the best thing that ever happened to me. We walk hand in hand all the way home and when we get there , nobody is downstairs. We walk up and check rooms and soon get to the movie room. We walk in and see everybody sleeping and the credits of a movie playing. I laugh slightly and turn it off. I make sure everyone is covered up before me and gale head to bed. "Stay with me tonight" I say and he smiles. "Okay" he says kissing my cheek. I smile and drag him to my room. I put pyjamas on. The top is black with a giraffe on it and the bottoms are black with small giraffes on them. I take my hair out and brush it before putting a plait in. I lie down under the covers and a few minutes later gale comes in behind me and pulls me into him. I smile and turn around so I'm facing him. "The light" I say chuckling. He turns it off with his mind and I roll my eyes. "You're so lazy" I say. "Yes but if I moved then I wouldn't be able to get back into the same position and I'm comfy" he says and I nod. "Fair enough" I say laughing slightly. "Night, love you" I say. "Night , love you too" he says. I kiss him softly before cuddling into his chest and closing my eyes. God, I love him so much.

Katniss P.O.V

I wake up in the morning to Peetas arms wrapped around me securely. His eyebrows are scrunched together and he looks so cute. He's murmuring and stirring slightly. Is he having a nightmare ? "Katniss" he mumbles scared. I frown and shake him awake. "Peeta did you have a nightmare?" I ask him and he nods. "Awe you're fine" I say kissing him. "Well I am now" he says winking and I laugh. "Cheeky" I say and stick my tongue out at him. He laughs slightly and roll on top of me. "You're lucky I'm strong" I say and he laughs. "I do not weigh that much" he says and I smile sweetly. "I was joking" I say kissing his cheek. "Fatty" I murmur and he laughs and spreads out on top of me. "It's all muscle" he says bragging. I roll my eyes and nod. "Sure it is" I say sarcastically. He pouts and looks at me. "Okay it's all muscle" I say and he smiles. "Look at this 6 pack" he says. "The only 6 pack you have is a 6 pack of soda" I say scoffing. "Uh I beg to differ" he says and pulls up his shirt. "Well someone's been working out" I say poking his stomach and he laughs. "What are we doing today?" I ask him and he smiles. "We are going to see Mitchell and Connor" he says and I nod. "What are we doing?" I ask. "Well you're actually seeing my dad too" he says. "I'll be on my best behaviour then" I say and he laughs. "Yeah , none of your carry on today" he says and I huff. "I have no idea what you're talking about" I say and stand up. "Well I'm going to get ready" I say before skipping off to my bedroom. When I get there I get a shower and towel dry my hair. I pick out a grey long sleeve dress , some black flats with a grey bow and black earrings and a ring. When I'm dressed I head to the bathroom and get washed before starting makeup. I put light foundation on , black winged eyeliner, mascara, blush and lip gloss. When I'm done I blow dry my hair and put heat protector on before curling it all. When I'm done I put a waterfall braid in and clip it in place before adding hairspray. I add some deodorant and perfume before heading downstairs where Peeta is ready and waiting. "Ready?" He asks me as I reach the bottom and I nod. "Yeah , what time is it?" I ask. "It's 1pm" he says and I nod. "I fed Sam already" he tells me and I smile gratefully. "Let's go" he says smiling and I nod. I don't know why but I'm really nervous. It's probably because I have only met his brother Connor and his dad frequently and that was the day his mom was arrested. We get in the car and Peeta drives us to his old house in district 12. I smile as we approach and so does Peeta. He's not seen his brother in a long time. "Here" he says as we pull up and we get out the car. We walk to the door hand in hand and walk through the bakery and through the back and upstairs. When we get to the too there's a door and Peeta walks through it. "Dad?" He calls out and we hear footsteps. "Peeta how are you?" He asks hugging him. "Great how are you-who's that?" He alas pointing to a woman with her back to us. He just smiles. "Louise" he says and she turns around. "Louise" Peeta says. "Peeta, Katniss. How are you?" She asks and I smile. "I'm great. Thanks for everything you done" I say hugging her. She hugs back and smiles. "Are you two uh you know?" Peeta asks and I laugh slightly. His dad smiles widely and nods. "Do Connor and Mitchell know?" He asks and his dad nods. "Cool , good to see you again" he says hugging her. She sighs in relief. "I honestly expected a worse reaction" she says and he laughs slightly. "If my dad's happy then so am I." He says and I can tell he means it. I smile and put an arm around his waist. "Mitchell and Connor are through there. They can't wait to finally meet you" he says to me and I smile. "We'll go through" Peeta says and walks through with me. "Well that was...." "Unexpected" I finish and he nods. "Yeah, unexpected" he says and I laugh. We walk through another door and see two boys. I recognise Connor and I'm guessing the other one is Mitchell because he looks like Peeta too. "Mitch" he says and he turns around. "Hey Peeta" he says standing up and hugging him. "And you must be the famous Miss Everdeen" he says and I blush and nod. "You know every phone call for the last year has revolved around you." He says and I laugh. "All good things I hope" I say and he winks at Peeta. "Haha you wish. He's always going on about how he's going to marry you one day and how you're the best thing in his life and that he never wants to loose you and how you're perfect" he says and Peeta cuts him off. "Okay she gets it" he says blushing. "Awe" I say and hug him. "It's true" Connor says. "Anyway it's nice to meet you Katniss" he says giving me a hug. "You too" I say smiling. "Hey Katniss. It's nice to see you when my nose isn't broken" he says smiling. "Yeah it is" I say and hug him too. He smiles and pulls away. "Have you met Louise ?" Mitchell says quietly. "She was my step dad's lawyer" I say. "Was?" He asks and I frown. "Yeah uh my parents died" I say. "Oh my god , sorry" he says and I smile slightly. "It's fine" I say and he nods. "Yeah dad seems pretty happy" Connor says. "Yeah and she's nice" Peeta says smiling. "Yeah and she's not mom" Mitchell says and they all nod. "Uh" someone says from the door and we all look up. Louise is standing smiling slightly. "Lunch is ready" she says and walks back out. They all laugh and I shake my head. "C'mon" Mitchell says and walks out with us following him. We go to the kitchen and sit at the table while Peetas dad lays out food. I take some chicken and salad and Peeta pours me a glass of water. I thank him as Mitchell sits next to me and Connor , his dad and Louise sit across from us. I smile and we all start eating. We all talk and laugh about old stories about Peeta and the others. I got along well with everyone which was good and Louise was really nice. After lunch the boys had to 'bond' leaving me and Louise with dishes. I don't mind though. "Bye" Peeta says kissing my cheek. "Bye" I say smiling. I carry the dishes to the sink and Louise washes while I dry. "How have you been coping?" She asks and I shrug. "I mean I'm alright. I've accepted my parents death and my sister and rues but it's everything after. I was diagnosed with PTSD and allots being happening but I have Peeta and the others" I say and she nods while smiling. "That's good. I'm glad you're doing okay" she says an so nod. "So you and Mr.Mellark?" I say and she blushes. "Uh yeah, long story. We met at the station while I was picking up a file and now we're here" she says smiling. I nod and continue drying things. "That's sweet" I say and she laughs slightly. "So how long have you and Peeta been together?" She asks just as Peetas dad walks in. I smile at him and he hugs Louise. "Can I talk to Katniss for a bit?" He asks and she nods while kissing him. He smiles as she walks into the living room where the boys are. "So Katniss how are you?" He asks taking over washing the dishes. "I'm doing fine , what about you?" I ask and he smiles. "I'm doing great. Much better than the last time I saw you" he says and I smile. "So you and Peeta are pretty serious" he says and I nod. "Yeah we've been together over a year. He's just a big part of my life. I love him and he's so sweet and kind and he'd do anything for me and I'd do the same and I'm rambling aren't i?" I ask him and he nods while laughing. "Well it's good to see him so happy. Not seen him like this since he was a boy" he says and I nod. "How did you meet anyway?" He asks. "Well I moved here and went to school at Panem High with my cousin clove who introduced me to him" I say blushing. "I had met him once before from where I used to live. He saved my life" I say and he looks at me weird. "He saved your life?" I ask and he nods. "Yeah I was poor and it was just after my dad died and I was starving and I came to the bakery but his moon didn't like me and Peeta burned bread and his mom hit him and he threw it to me" I say and his mouth drops open. "You're the girl" he says and I look at him strangely. "Why does everyone say that?" I ask. "It's because he talked about you all the time. He had sleeping problems because he didn't know if you were still alive. Look I have his old journal" he tells me and drys his hands before digging in a drawer nearby and pulling out a leather journal. I open it and read the first page. 'Dear diary, all I can do is lay down and think about her. I don't even know her name. She could be dead for all I know. I hope I get to see her again someday. Even just to know she's alright. She was beautiful. With her pretty plait but she was so thin. I can't help but think about her. Every day and every night she is on my mind. I don't know what to do' I bite my lip and smile. "That's so sweet" I say and he nods. "Why don't we go back through before they get suspicious" He says and I nod. We both walk through and everyone is talking. "Hey" Peeta says opening his arms and I sit next to him and hug him. He wraps his arm round me. "Awe" Mitchell coos. I roll my eyes and laugh. "So how's Jenny?" Peeta asks. "Uh she's fine" he says biting his lip. "What?" I ask. "Uhh I have something to tell you." He says and everyone looks at him. "I proposed" he says and everyone stands up and hugs him. "Aweee" I coo and he laughs. "Jenny Mellark. That's so cute!" I say and he laughs. "Calm down" he says and I smile.

"Well it was nice meeting you Katniss" Mitchell says as me and Peeta leave. "Yeah feel free to come over before you leave" I say hugging him.

After saying goodbye to everyone me and Peeta head home. "That was nice" I say as we start driving and Peeta nods. "Yeah and unexpected" he says and I nod. "As long as he's happy" I say and he smiles. "So my dad showed me a diary" I tell him and he groans. "Oh god" he says sighing and I laugh. "I thought it was very sweet." I say kissing his cheek and he smiles.

Today was great. I'm glad to have properly met them. Everyone was so sweet and his brothers were funny. I'm so glad I have him. My life wouldn't be worth living if I didn't.
