"Alex! Come out, come out where ever you are." I sang as I walk around searching for my nephew Alex, or Alexander but he preferred Alex.
He had brown hair and green eyes, just like me. My hair was just longer than his but our eyes where the same. He was a bit taller than me and had a few freckles over the bridge of his nose. We were both in the same grade but he was a year older than me because my mother entered me a year to early in the begining of school. He was just as old as all his classmates while I was a year younger. He is 9 while I'm 8.
I searched for a good 10 minutes after that. As I walk into the extra room in my parents house I feel my body shiver.
"Alex?" I asked. Aware of my surroundings. I know he has to be in here. I hated this room. It always scarred me for some reason.
I walk past an old bookshelf covered with dusty white fabrics to keep it protected. The sheets began to move slowly and my eyes widen in fear.
Only one thing went through my head.
Run!
As I turn around to get out of this room something wrapped around my waist and began pulling me back.
I tried to scream but nothing came out.
"Boo!" I hear the thing behind me whisper in my ear.
I stayed quiet.
"Sil it's me." I hear Alex say with a chuckle and I sigh and relax.
"Really Alex?" I ask.
"I'm sorry but I just had to. Lets go watch some movies!" he smiled and I smiled back. He began walking out and I followed closing the door behind me.
He was already down the stairs and I ran down to catch up.
"I'll get the popcorn and you pick a movie" he yelled and I smiled.
I love the tinkerbell movies. That is why he called me Sil although my name is Shannon. My favourite character is Silvermist.
I played one of the tinkerbell movies and sat on the couch. He entered a short time after and we watched the movie and ate popcorn like normal kids would.
He was my best friend. We shared all our secrets and did everything together. We swore to each other that we would graduate at North High together no matter what.

"Shannon honey... Wake up." My mother said to me.
I slowly took in my surroundings and found I was still in the living room. Alex wasn't next to me anymore and I looked at my mother with confusion.
"Where is Alex?" I ask and she smiled at me sadly.
"Darling, he is packing." She said and I felt a pain in my chest.
"Are they going camping?" I asked. They always did go camping at the lake nearby. We usually went there together.
"No my love, they are moving." She said in a soft tone. I swear I felt my heart crack.
"To where?" I asked. My eyes glossy from unshed tears.
"They are moving out to live over seas. They won't be visiting soon dear." She explained. My tears fell.
"How? Why mommy?!?" I sobbed. They can't just leave. He was my everything.
"I'm sorry baby." She tried to make me feel better but it didn't help. At all.
"When are they leaving?" I ask between my cries.
"Tomorrow morning." She replied.
I hugged her and she hugged me back.
"You are young dear, you are pretty and smart, sweet, kind and very funny... You will make new friends." She hushed me with soothing words.
"And besides, he will come visit from time to time. Not just that often." She said and I began to feel my eyelids grow heavy.
"Can we go say goodbye to them before they leave?" I ask.
"Sure baby." She said and kissed the top of my head.
I fell asleep again with my mind on the one person I would miss the most.
Alex.

"Bye Sil... I'll miss you sooo so so much." he hugged me and I hugged him back.
My eyes were bloodshot and puffy from all the tears. When I woke this morning I was crying. All the way here I was crying hell I'm not even sure if I'm crying at this moment or not.
"Bye Alex... I'll Miss you too." I say and he lets go.
"Don't grow up without me." he winked.
"I'll try..." I gave him a sad smile and he turned around to walk with his parents. He looked back.
Just as I thought he was going to leave he ran back to me and gave me another bone crushing hug which I returned.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you too." I reply and he pulls back. He had let a single tear escape and he gave me a small smile before returning to his parents.
My mother picked me up and carried me to the car. I slept all the way home.
Everytime I thought about him I began to cry again. But I knew he would one day come back and we can continue as if he never left.
