«Shannon»
When we finished with the Photo session it was almost 17:00. So we drove to the school hall, where the prom is held.
When we arrived we walked in and stood in a short line for a photo with the background theme. The line went relatively quick and we smiled for the camera once we both stood in front of the gold and silver fabrics that hung behind us.
"Another one." The girl behind the camera says and Cody smiles and turn my head so that I'm facing him. My head is tilted up a little and he kisses me when I hear the camera sound.
"Next!" She yells and we make our way off the small platform and into a hallway that leads to the party.
The music becomes louder as we near the dance floor and Cody wraps an arm around my waist pulling me closer to his body.
When we get to the stairs that leads down to the dance floor I smile at the scene in front of me.
Almost the entire grade seems to be dancing wildly on the dance floor. The DJ looks like he is having a blast and there is a bunch of students hanging around the snack and punch table.
"Let's get dancing Angel." Cody smiles and I look at him and nod my head.
"Finally." I grin and he takes my hand and inlace our fingers. We walk down the stairs and when we reach the bottom Max rushes up to us and he smiles.
"Glad you guys finally came! What took you so long! You missed it though, some basketball guy came with a girl then someone announced on the DJ's microphone that it was his niece! They left after that." Max yelled exitedly and I laughed.
"Really? That's so sad!" I laugh and Cody chuckles and shakes his head.
"How long have you been here man?" Cody asks Max and he looks around him and see Livia, she looks lost.
"Come here babe." he says and grab her hand pulling her to his side.
"Oh... Here you are, Hey guys... Wow Shannon you look... Wow." She says and I smile.
"Thank you Livia, you look nice as well." I say motioning to her two piece, Purple dress.
"Thanks." She blushes.
"Well we've been here since it began, in fact we were the first ones here along with another couple." Max says and Cody nods.
"Okay... We're going to go dance now so if you'll excuse us." Cody says in a weirdly formal way and I chuckle while he pulls me to the packed dance floor.
We dance closely for a while but stop when the DJ takes the microphone and stop the music.
"Sorry to interupt, would you all please make your way to your tables please." The guys says and everyone starts walking to a table on the side of the dance floor.
Cody is leading me to a table and pulls out my chair when we reach one where Conner, Bianca, James, Rebecca, Max, Livia, Alex and Katy. I reconise James and Conner's dates from the movie date and I frown when I see Henry and Winter is missing.
This was a big table and I see that most of the other tables isn't so big but I'm sure one of the guys made arrangements.
"Hey guys... Where is the other two?" I ask.
"They're on their way. We saved seats." Rebecca says.
"Oh. Okay." I say and Cody sits down next to me. After a few seconds they arrive and I scan over the room and see most of the people is sitting down while some teacher steps onto the stage and the DJ gives him a microphone.
He clears his throat before speaking.
"Good evening students. Thank you that you all made it... I don't want to bore you with a whole speech and thats why I made sure that my message is short and clear." he said
The whole place lets out a chuckle when Max says, "Well you're not doing a very good job."
"Ahh Max, I wish I could say I would miss you but I'm against lying... Anyways my message is enjoy every moment of life, the big ones and small ones because each moment big or small turns out to be huge memories in the future." He said and then I began to think.
I'm going to miss everything. Everyone, even Raven... No, not Raven. No way I could miss that thing.
But I'm going to miss the jokes me and Livia made. The practise sessions with the team. The times Max made jokes and made us all laugh. The way that me and Alex were always walking together during classes, Cody sitting near me at the center table. The weird stares I got from hanging out with the team. I'm really going to miss it all.
"Thank you." The teacher brought me out of my thoughts and I looked up from my lap and stared at the piece of ribbon on the wine glass in front of me.
"You alright Angel?" Cody asks and he places his hand on my thigh while leaning in.
I look up at him and I see panic appear on his face.
"Why are you crying?" He asks and I let out a little laugh. I didn't even realise the stray tear and quickly and carefully wiped it away. Thank the stars the make up artist had waterproof products.
"It's nothing." I say and he sighs.
"You sure?" he asks again and I nod my head.
"Yep." I smile and he gives me a reassuring one in return.
"Let's get this party started!" Max yells and as if timed the DJ started playing some tunes while cheers arrupts from all the people here and then everyone of them stands up and move to the dance floor.
"Let's go dance." Cody says and he grabs my hand and pull me up not waiting for an answer.
"Again?!" I laugh and follow him.
I'm going to miss all of these people who plays such a big part in my life without them even knowing.
I'm going to miss high school.
