Chapter Five

Vanessa's Point of View:

Friday. It was finally Friday. The week had gone by so slow, I was really excited when the final bell had rung on Friday.

Walking happily out of the room, I went to my locker. While putting my things away, Luke approached me. "Hey are we ever gonna finish this project? We've only hung out once this week to do it, and we only have three more days until it's due,"

I rolled my eyes. "Stop worrying, we'll do it on Sunday,"

"That's last minute though." Luke pointed out.

"Whatever, we'll get it done." I told him.

"Whatever you say," he shrugged.

"So you still going to the party?" I asked.

"Yep, you?"

"Yeah." I grinned.

"Guess I'll see you there then," he said, and walked away without a goodbye.

Shrugging it off, I walked out of the building and spotted my moms car. Walking over to it, I quickly got in so I could get home as soon as possible.

I hadn't talked to my mom much since Monday, when she randomly told me off. I didn't know how to start a conversation, and it seemed like she didn't either.

When we finally got home, I went into the house and up to my room without a word. Closing the door behind me, I quickly went over to my closet to pick out an outfit for tonight. Not knowing what to wear, I called Bethany for advice. She said she would be right over, she was great when it came to things like these.

After about fifteen minutes, Bethany was walking into my room.

"How'd you get in?" I asked.

"Your mom, she didn't say hi or anything though she just opened the door." She told me.

"She's been acting weird lately," I sighed.

"I've noticed,"

"So how long can you stay?" I asked my best friend.

"Not long. I'm going to Jason's house to help set things up for later," Beth smiled.

"Get the d," I grinned.

"Oh my god shut up!" Bethany squealed, while turning red.

"Let's just pick out my outfit now," I laughed.

"Yeah," Beth laughed along.

After ten minutes of searching through my clothes, I had my outfit picked out. A black lace Aeropostale shirt, with navy blue skinny jeans from American Eagle.

Hearing Bethany's phone ring, she smiled as she saw that it was Jason. "I have to go, I'll see you at the party though!"

"Bye," I grinned as she walked out of the room.

Seeing the time, I saw that I had awhile until the party. Deciding to go eat something, I walked out of my bedroom.

While in the hallway, I heard my mom and Joey in his room, talking. Moving closer to the door I tried to listen to what they were saying.

"Mom why are you doing this?" Joey sighed.

"Honey I'm sorry.." My mom started, "this is what's best for our family,"

"What's best would be you and dad staying together," Joey said angrily.

"We have to get divorced. We can't stay together after what happened," My mother sighed.
