Chapter Thirteen

Vanessa's Point of View:

Luke's been gone for about ten minutes now, he didn't even tell me where he was going. I started to worry, I don't know why. What could Luke be doing that would make him be gone so long?

Sighing, I turned to Beth, who I was currently standing by. Everyone else was off doing their own thing, and Bethany and I were just standing there. I looked over at Michael and Kendra, who seemed to be lost in conversation. I grinned to myself, wondering what they were talking about.

Focusing back on my reality, I spoke up. "Beth?"

"Yeah?" she yelled over the loud music that was playing throughout the gym.

"I'm gonna go find Luke, he's been gone awhile."

"Alright, hurry back though, I don't wanna stand here alone looking like a loner." Bethany laughed.

I rolled my eyes playfully. "I'll be back in five minutes."

"Okay!" she smiled.

Walking away, I made my way out of the large gym. Not knowing where to look first, I decided on the two hundred hall, since it was closest to the gym.

Walking down the long hallway, I started to hear voices from afar. Picking up my pace, I walked over to a set of lockers, peeking behind it to see Luke.. And some girl?

Wait.

That's the girl that was giving me a death glare at lunch on Monday, the girl that Luke said he didn't know, the girl that I never saw around school before, until this week.

Hiding behind the lockers, I peeked my head out a little so they wouldn't see me.

"Melissa, I've been waiting." Luke said to the girl, who I'm assuming is Melissa.

Waiting for what?

Melissa walked closer to Luke, putting her hand on his shoulder. "Me too Luke."

What the hell?

"There were times that I really missed you," Luke said shyly.

"I'm sorry I shut you out. It just hurt too much to stay in contact with you, being in a different country and all," Melissa sighed.

"I know we were only thirteen, but I really loved you Mel," Luke attempted to smile at the girl.

"I really loved you too Luke, and I still do." she smiled widely at him.

I could feel my eyes starting to tear up. There was something that Luke wasn't telling me, and this was obviously it. How could I be so stupid to trust him?

"That's the thing Melissa-" he started to say, but was cut off by her lips being thrown onto his.

I stood there in shock as they kissed. Luke's arms stayed at his sides, as hers were around his shoulders. After a few seconds, he put his hands on her waist.

Tears streamed down my face. Running away, I made my way back to the gym, in tears. How could I be so stupid to trust Luke? How the fuck could he do this to me?

Walking further into the gym, I saw Beth still standing alone. She looked over at me, her eyes widening. "Vanessa what's wrong?"

"I need to get out of here," I sobbed.

Bethany grabbed my hand, pulling me into the empty locker room right next to the gym. "Vanessa, what the hell happened? Why wasn't Luke with you when you came back? Did you even find him?"
