Chapter Eleven
Vanessa's Point of View:
One Week Later
"Vanessa try this on!" Beth squealed as she threw an expensive looking dress at me.
My eyes went wide as I looked at it. It was silver and strapless, with sparkles covering the whole thing. "Beth, this looks like it's at least two hundred dollars. I only brought one hundred fifty,"
Homecoming was a week away, and I still hadn't gotten a dress. Bethany and I were at the mall now, looking for something for me. My mom had only given me one hundred fifty dollars, and the store we were at just happened to be really expensive.
"I can pay the other fifty," Bethany grinned.
"Hell no. I'd feel like a bad friend if you did that!" I told her, handing her back the dress.
"You're not a bad friend, you can just pay me back later. Please get this dress Vanessa, Luke will go insane when he sees you in it,"
I sighed. "Fine. I'll try it on, but no guarantee that I'm getting it,"
"Yay!" Beth squealed as she handed me back the dress.
Going into the small dressing room, I quickly tried it on, having no trouble zipping it up. Looking at myself in the mirror, I smiled lightly. The dress stopped right above my knee, and it covered most of my chest, so it wasn't slutty at all.
"Do you have it on?" Beth asked from behind the door.
"Yeah," I called. "Come in."
As Bethany walked into the tiny room, she squealed. "You're getting it! You look hot!"
I laughed. "I don't know.."
"Stop worrying about the price. I'll pay the other fifty, and you can just pay me back later,"
I closed my eyes and sighed. "Fine Beth. I'm doing this for you,"
"And Luke!" She grinned.
I just laughed and rolled my eyes playfully. Motioning for Beth to leave the room, I changed back into my clothes.
Walking out of the dressing room, we walked to the register and paid for the dress.
"Now what do you wanna do?" Beth asked, seeing that we still had an hour until my mom was picking us up.
"Food court? Or we could go in the bathroom and take a shit ton of selfies," I laughed.
"Let's do both," Beth grinned, as we started to walk through the mall.
After an hour of walking around, we eventually got tired and went to wait outside for my mom who was picking us up. When she finally arrived, we got in the car and I sighed in relief, happy to be off my feet.
"Did you find a dress?" she asked, while fixing her eyes on the road.
"Yep, I'll show you it when we get home."
After the somewhat long car ride to Beth's house, she smiled and waved, walking into her house. When finally getting home, I rushed into the house and up to my room, being so tired from the long day.
A half hour went by, and I looked at the time. It was seven thirty on a Saturday night, I didn't know what to do for the rest of the day. Sighing, I heard my bedroom door open. I was facing the wall, so I couldn't see who it was.
"Vanessa?" My moms quiet voice spoke.
I turned around on my bed. "Yes?"
"Care to talk?" She asked, and sat down on my bed.
