Chapter Sixteen

Luke's Point of View:

Pacing around the room, I violently wiped at the sweat that was dripping from my forehead. I looked over at Vanessa, who wasn't paying attention to what I was doing. Letting out a groan, she looked up. I gave her a nervous look, which she just rolled her eyes to.

"You have nothing to be nervous about. You guys are performing in front of a bunch of eighth graders, who probably won't even be paying attention to the music. They're more than likely just gonna be grinding on each other the whole time," she told me, laughing.

I sighed. "What if we sound bad?"

"You've never sounded bad any of the times I've heard you."

"I'm not nervous around you, I'm probably gonna be nervous around two hundred people that I don't know." I said, plopping down on my bed. Nessa came over and joined me, resting her head on my shoulder.

"You'll do fine babe. I'm gonna be right backstage cheering you on," she smiled.

I smiled too, and snaked my arm around her waist, pulling her closer to me. "I love you,"

Nessa giggled and tilted her head up to kiss my jaw. "I love you too. And you still have a few more hours, get Michael, Calum, and Ashton over here to practice a few more times. I'm pretty sure you guys will be fine for tonight,"

Sighing in relief, I laughed lightly. "Okay,"

After playing the fifteen songs we planned on playing, I started to feel not so nervous. We practiced each song until we got it perfect, and with that, I knew that tonight was gonna go okay.

Feeling dehydrated from singing for the past three hours, I chugged the whole water bottle that Nessa had gotten for me. Feeling tired, I sat down on the bench in the garage. The guys joined me, feeling tired as well.

"Wait a second," Calum breathed, "how are we gonna get all the equipment there?"

I coughed, trying to catch my breath before speaking. "They already have stuff for us to use there,"

Falling back onto the bench, I watched as Vanessa, Kendra, Bethany, and Addison walked into the garage.

"Damn you look like death," Kendra laughed, walking over towards Michael.

"I'm aware," he rolled his eyes, and flicked water at her.

"Date already," Addison mumbled, causing me to laugh. I didn't understand how those two weren't together yet. They're both rude and obnoxious, they're perfect for each other.

As for Bethany and Ashton, nobody knew what was happening there. Ever since last week when we all met at the place where the dance was, Ashton and Bethany have been talking nonstop.

Getting snapped from my thoughts, I felt Vanessa walk over to me and sit beside me. "You guys are gonna do great tonight,"

I half smiled. "I hope so,"

"I know so,"

Leaning in, I kissed her lips gently. What I thought was just going to be a short, wasn't. Nessa wrapped her arms around my neck, entangling her hands in my hair. Our lips collided together, causing a perfect kiss, as always. I slid my tongue across her bottom lip, asking for entrance, which she granted.
