I walked into the lab just as Tony poked Banner with something. "Nothing?" he questioned.
Out of nowhere I felt angry. "Hey! Are you nuts?" I snapped.
"You really have got a lid on it, haven't you?" Tony questioned Banner ignoring me, "What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?"
"Is everything a joke to you?" I asked.
"Funny things are," Tony smirked. Oh, I really wanted to slap that smirk off his face.
"Threatening the safety of everyone on this ship isn't funny," I said. I glanced at Banner, "No offense, doctor."
"No, it's alright," Banner said, "I wouldn't have come aboard if I couldn't handle pointy things."
"You're tiptoeing, big man," Tony stated, "You need to strut."
"And you need to focus on the problem, Mr. Stark," I snapped.
"You think I'm not?" Tony shot back, "Why did Fury call us and why now? Why not before? What isn't he telling us? I can't do the equation unless I have all the variables."
"You think Fury's hiding something?" I asked.
Tony gave me a look that asked if I was serious. I gave him a look that said to go with it.
"He's a spy. Captain, he's the spy," Tony said, "His secrets have secrets." He pointed at Banner, "Its bugging him too, isn't it?"
"Uh..." Banner stuttered, "I just wanna finish my work here and..."
"Doctor?" I asked.
Banner sighed, "A warm light for all mankind, Loki's jab at Fury about the cube."
I nodded, "I heard it."
"Well," Banner continued pointing at Tony, "I think that was meant for you. Even if Barton didn't tell Loki it was still posted all over the news."
"The Stark Tower? That big ugly..." I trailed off as Tony gave me a look that dared me to go on. "...building in New York?" I finished.
Banner nodded, "It's powered by Stark Reactors, self-sustaining energy source. That building will run itself for what, a year?"
"That's just the prototype," Tony explained, "I'm kind of the only name in clean energy right now."
"So why didn't Shield bring him in on the Tesseract project?" Banner asked, "I mean, what are they doing in the energy business in the first place?"
Tony walked around the table he was at, "I should probably look into that once my decryption programmer finishes breaking into all of Shield's secure files."
I looked at him in disbelief, "I'm sorry, did you say...?"
"Jarvis has been running it since I hit the bridge," Tony explained, "In a few hours we'll know every dirty secret Shield has ever tried to hide." He held out a bag of blueberries, "Blueberry?"
I frowned, "Yet you're confused about why they didn't want you around?"
He scoffed, "An intelligence organization that fears intelligence? Historically, not awesome."
"I think Loki's trying to wind us up," I said sounding more and more like Captain America. I never talked like this with Tony. What the hell? I continued, "This is a man who means to start a war, and if we don't stay focused, he'll succeed. We have orders, we should follow them."
Tony popped a blueberry in his mouth, "Following is not really my style."
I smirked, "And you're all about style, aren't you?"
