A few hours later I was standing on a roof with Clint while Sam was collecting Sitwell. I pulled out my phone.
"Who are you calling?" Clint asked.
"Our team of idiots to make sure no one is dead," I told him. Actually I was calling Tony to make sure he wasn't dead, but still I was making sure someone wasn't dead. I dialed up Tony's number. The only answer I got was something incoherent. Damn, he was drunk.
"Jarvis," I said, "Will you please cut him off and tell him that if he is still drunk when I get home I'm burning the alcohol."
"Very well Captain Rogers," Jarvis replied. A few seconds later he said, "Mr. Stark is sobering up as we speak."
"Good," I said, "How's the rest of team, J?"
"They're fine Captain Rogers. Might I suggest you focus on your mission and not worry about your team. I can keep them in line."
I sighed, "I know, but it's my job to worry about them. Can Stark still hear me?"
"He can now."
"Hey, you alcoholic. I love you. Stay safe. I'll see you in a few days. Also there are cookies under the kitchen sink. Go crazy."
"Mr. Stark says he loves you too and thanks for the cookies. He isn't planning on sharing."
I laughed, "I know. Keep them safe, J."
"Always, Captain."
I hung up the phone. Clint glared at me, "There were cookies?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," I said making my way downstairs to meet Sam. Once downstairs I took Sitwell from Sam. I dragged him upstairs then threw him across the rooftop.
"Tell me about Zola's algorithm," I snapped.
"Never heard of it," Sitwell said backing up from me.
"What were you doing on the Lemurian Star?" I asked stalking toward him.
"I was throwing up," he said as he hit the edge of the roof, "I get seasick." He then smirked, "Is this little show to insinuate that you're going to throw me off the roof, Rogers. Because that's not really your style."
I smiled and smoothed out his jacket, "You're right. It's not. It's his." I step aside as Clint kicked Sitwell off the roof.
"Oh wait," Clint said, "What about that guy from accounting, Lucas..."
"Lincoln," I said, "Lip piercing, right?"
"Yeah, he's cute."
"Yeah, I'm not ready for that."
Sam flew up to the roof with Sitwell. Sitwell rolled then looked at me.
"Zola's algorithm is a program," he said, "for choosing Insight's targets!"
"What targets?" I snapped.
"You! A TV anchor in Cairo, the Undersecretary of Defense, a high school valedictorian in Iowa City. Bruce Banner, Stephen Strange, anyone who's a threat to Hydra! Now, or in the future."
"The future? How could it know?"
Sitwell laughed, "How could it not? The 21st century is a digital book. Zola taught Hydra how to read it. Your bank records, medical histories, voting patterns, e-mails, phone calls, your damn SAT scores. Zola's algorithm evaluates people's past to predict their future."
"And what then?"
"Oh, my God. Pierce is gonna kill me."
"What then?!"
