***Six months later***

"Somebody report in," I called, "What the hell is going on?"

"Well, oh Captain my Captain," Clint drawled, "Its times like this we need Iron Man."

"Don't sass me, Barton," I snapped, "We don't have Iron Man, so figure it out and don't die."

"Yes ma'am," he sassed back.

Ever since we started this mission he has been a pain in my ass. It also didn't help that we were in the middle of the jungle trying to take down some enemy base.

"Cap," Natasha called, "It's all you and Barnes."

I looked over to Bucky, "Ready?"

"Lead the way," he said.

"Get back to the jet and stay on stand-by," I ordered.

"You got it, Cap," Natasha said.

Bucky and I took off toward the base. It was a simple in and out. We went in, set the charges and got out. On our way back to the plane I set them off.

"Let's go," I said getting on the plane. Clint nodded and we took off for home.

"It's taken care of," Natasha told Eyepatch.

I flopped into a seat and closed my eyes until Bucky nudged me saying that we were back at the tower. As I walked into the building my phone started ringing.

"Rogers," I said answering it.

"Kennedy, its Rhodey," the other person said.

"Hey man," I greeted, "What's up?"

"Tony's in the hospital," he said.

"What?" I asked freezing in place.

"Hey! What the hell?" Clint exclaimed running into me.

I ignored him as Rhodey continued talking, "Just get here."

"Which one?"

"Lenox Hill."

"I'm on my way." I hung up my phone and slid it back in my utility belt. I took off for the stairs.

"Kennedy!" Bucky called, "Where are you going?"

"Tony! Hospital!" I said before booking it down the flight of stairs. I don't know if they heard me or not and I didn't care. My best friend was in the hospital and I needed to get there. I didn't bother ditching the shield I just jumped on my bike and took off. When I got to the hospital I walked into the main lobby.

"Hey," Rhodey greeted. He looked around me, "You brought the whole gang?"

I turned to see that the team had indeed followed me.

"What happened?" Natasha asked.

Rhodey sighed, "He was fighting off the Mandarin."

"You guys were in California, why the hell are you here?" I asked.

"He insisted," he explained, "I wasn't sure at first, but I'm guessing it's because here is where you guys are." He nodded toward the elevator, "Come on. Let's get you guys up there. People are starting to give you guys weird looks."

I nodded and we walked to the elevator. When we got to just outside Tony's room Pepper came storming over.

"What is she doing here?" she snapped.

"She's here because I called her, Pep," Rhodey told her.

Pepper glared at me, "She doesn't deserve to be here. She's the reason he's in there. She's supposed to be Captain America and she didn't go stop a terrorist."
