Safehouse

Once we had a location on Klaue, we headed to the African Coast to try and stop him from doing something. Thor and I came up on opposite sides of the walk way while Tony landed from above.

"Stark is, he's a sickness!" Ultron shouted.

"Aww, Junior," Tony drawled as he landed, "You're gonna break your old man's heart."

"If I have to," Ultron shouted.

"We don't have to break anything," Thor said.

"Clearly you've never made an omelet."

"He beat me by one second," Tony groused.

"Ah, this is funny, Mr. Stark," Pietro said stepping forward, "It's what, comfortable? Like old times?"

"This was never my life," Tony told him.

"You two can still walk away from this," I said stepping forward.

"Oh, we will," Wanda said.

"I know you've suffered," I tried.

Ultron made a sound of disgust, "Uuughh! Captain America. God's righteous woman, pretending you could live without a war. I can't physically throw up in my mouth, but..."

"If you believe in peace, then let us keep it," Thor said cutting him off.

"I think you're confusing peace with quiet," Ultron said.

"Yuh-huh," Tony said, "What's the Vibranium for?"

"I'm glad you asked that, because I wanted to take this time to explain my evil plan!" Ultron threw his hand out and pulled Tony to him before throwing him into the wall behind us. Tony then took off toward Ultron and the two started to fight. Thor and I started fighting the bots. The one I was fighting grabbed me by the throat and tried to throw me over a railing. I hit it with my shield then kicked it away from me. I then ran toward Wanda. She used her powers to throw me back. Gun shots started to ring out. Great, Klaue's men were now fighting us. Hawkeye, Widow and the Winter Soldier could handle them. Thor and I continued to take out the bots. I threw my shield at one and then was punched in the face by something I couldn't see. Damn, it was Pietro. I pushed myself up and pulled a bot into a chokehold putting my shield under its head. I leaned back as Thor took its head off with his hammer. I then threw my shield at three of Klaue's men. I caught my shield and leaped over the railing. I hit Pietro with my shield as he tried to stand up.

"Stay down, kid!" I told him. I went back to taking out bots and men. "Thor! Status?"

"The girl tried to warp my mind," he said, "Take special care, I doubt a human could keep her at bay. Fortunately, I am mighty."

I started for the stairs but then something hit me from behind, hard. I fell into some guns that were sitting there. As I tried to get up my vision went red and then I wasn't seeing the warehouse anymore.

"Miss Barnes, thank you for agreeing to this," Dr. Erskine said to me.

I nodded and stepped up onto the thing he wanted me to lay down on. In what had been a rash decision I had signed my life away. I was now part of Project Rebirth; I was going to be part of a new group of soldiers. I honestly didn't see why they would let a woman do it, but hey, the pay was good. I felt the serum run through my veins. It hurt like hell but I wasn't giving up. When I opened my eyes I was staring at stars instead of a lab ceiling. Next thing I knew Bucky's face was in mine.

"Come on," he urged, "Get up."

I allowed him to pull me up and with him. As we ran toward a building I realized that we were on the battlefield. One that I hadn't been on since 1943. Bucky pulled me through a set of double doors then stopped.
