Chapter 14: The Phone Call

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

Ethan: "No one picked up?"

I shook my head, holding in my tears.

Ethan: "Aw babe, don't worry! I'll contact the police, and I want you to go sit down and relax. Ill grab you a glass of water."

Me: "Ethan, you don't have to stay. You can go home if you wa-"

Ethan: "No Samantha! I'm not leaving."

He dialled triple zero instantly and told them about the problem.

Ethan: "Yes, that'd be great. Thank you." Were the last words he said before ending the call.

Me: "W-what's happening?"

Ethan: "They're sending search helicopters to scan the ocean. Also, a few officers will be here soon to check out the note."

I didn't know how to react. Are my parents ok? I don't even know if they're.. Alive.

ETHAN'S P.OV

After about 15 minutes, the police officers arrived. I let them in, and gave them the note.

I saw Samantha on the couch by herself, with her eyes full of terror. The poor thing, I went over right away to comfort her.

Me: "Samantha, they will find your parents, and everything will be fine!"

Samantha: "You don't know that Ethan!"

I could tell she was extremely scared. I sat next to her, with my hand rubbing her leg gently. She was shaking a lot.

Police Officer: "We need to leave, but we'll get back to you in the morning. We've got your number, so I'll call around 8am."

Me: "Yep, thank you ma'am."

She grinned slightly, and left with a few other male officers.

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

I couldn't move. I was so scared. Were my parents ok?

Ethan: "It's going to be fine babe. Now, it's 11 so I think we should get some sleep, don't you think?"

I finally took a deep breathe and spoke.

Me: "Yeah I'm exhausted. What a day. Lets sleep on the couches. I don't want to sleep by myself in my room. You can sleep on that couch."

I pointed to the couch near the one I was sitting on.

Ethan: "Oh sure." He said while flicking off the light switch for the ceiling light bulb, whilst the lamp was still on.

Me: "Goodnight Eth."

Ethan: "Sleep well babe!" He said while finding a comfortable position.

"RING RING!"

I opened my eyes, checking the time. 8:00am. Where's the ringing coming from?

I suddenly remembered that the police officer said she'd call at 8.

Me: "Ethan! Ethan wake up, now!"

He slowly stretched and sat up, while I answered the phone call I had been waiting for.

Me: "Hello?!"

Police Officer: "Hello, is this Samantha speaking?"

Me: "Yes, yes it is! Tell me about my parents!"

Ethan looked incredibly tired, but really curious on what the officer was saying.

Police Officer: "Good news. We've found your parents, alive! They were out fishing last night, when their boat hit a big piece of coral. Luckily, we found them in time. The boat was sinking, so if we found them any later, they could've been underwater."
