Chapter 27: A Stormy Night

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

I just arrived home with Jake, after saying bye to Ethan.

Mum: "Hello you two!"

Frank: "Hi guys, where were you this afternoon?"

Jake: "Just got ourselves some ice cream."

Frank: "In this cold weather? Ugh, kids these days." He said laughing with Mum.

Mum: "Oh, I've got a doctors appointment in about ten mintes, Frank will be taking me. You'll both be fine on your own right?"

Me: "Yeah, it's all good."

Mum: "That's good, I'll just use the bathroom quickly." She said rushing off towards the bathroom.

I followed her and waited for her to finish, just to have a quick private talk.

Me: "So uh, is this appointment for-"

Mum: "Yes, it's for the cancer darling." She said giving me a quick smile.

Me: "Ok, well good luck Mum." I said trying not to sound too down about it and walked back out to Jake.

Jake: "C'mon Sam, lets go upstairs. It's getting late we should probably get to sleep."

Me: "Yep, coming!" I said as I waved goodbye.

"BANG!"

The thunder kept banging over and over. It was two hours since I got to bed. Jake is asleep, but I just can't sleep. Mum's still not home, I'm trying my best not to worry. I feel slightly torn in the heart. The fear is too strong. There are many things I want, but there is one thing I want the most. Ethan.

I decided to put on my rain coat and run over to Ethan's house.

When I arrived at his front door, I called him with my phone so that I didn't have to knock and wake up the rest of his family.

Ethan: "Hello?"

Me: "Hey babe, please open your front door."

Ethan: "I'll be there in a minute."

As the door slowly opened I saw Ethan standing there shirtless rubbing his eyes.

Ethan: "Samantha? Come in babe." He said while yawning.

Me: "I want to be with you tonight Ethan."

Ethan: "That's fine come up to my room." He said while giving me a big hug and walking up the stairs with me.

When we reached his room he brought me to his bed and covered me up under his blanket as he also hopped in the bed.

Ethan: "How's Jake settling in?" He asked while gently rubbing my arm.

Me: "He's fine, the person I'm worried about is his Dad. He seems to be getting really close with Mum."

Ethan: "Nah babe, your probably just imagining it. Maybe they've just grown a friendship."

Me: "They're out together right now. Mum's got a... She's got an appointment for her cancer."

Ethan: "Yeah? Well that's good. The sooner it gets treated the better."

From then on it was silent. Although, when my eyelids got heavy, I felt a soft kiss on my right cheek.

"Morning sunshine! I made you breakfast!"

I opened my eyes to see Ethan with a huge smile holding a tray with pancakes, maple syrup, strawberries, blueberries, and tea.

Me: "Ethan, you did this for me?"

Ethan: "Well yes, but my Mum took out the tray, if that counts!" He said cheekily giving me a wink.

Me: "Aw babe your the best!"

Ethan: "I know I know, people tell me!" He said while putting the tray on my lap.

Breakfast in bed on a school day, this is great!

He then put the tv on and opened the blinds.

Ethan: "Enjoy!" He said while leaving the room with a proud smile.

I just stepped out of Ethan's house with him all ready for school, as I remembered about Mum, Frank, and Jake.

Me: "Ethan, we've got to go past my place, Mum will be worried!"

Ethan: "Alright let's make it quick! He said while grabbing my hand as we ran to my house.

When we arrived I took out the spare key from under the mat and ran inside.

Mum and Frank were both staring into each others eyes closely looking like they were about to... kiss?!

Me: "Mum?!" I said as she quickly turned to me with her hand over her mouth.
