Chapter 15: The Carnival

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

When Ethan left, I just stood at the door thinking about life. It felt like everything was good again.

I had breakfast, showered and went on Instagram.

Mum: "Hey sweety, there's a carnival on today. It's just a few minutes away, and I think it'd be nice for you to go out with some friends and forget about all the drama."

Me: "Oh ok, that'd be nice."

Suddenly I remembered that Ethan is grounded.

I quickly took out my phone.

(Me: Hey Eth, um my mum wants me to go to the carnival with a few friends. Your grounded right?)

(Ethan 💘: Yeah. Hold on, I'm sure I can sneak out for a few hours because my parents will be out shopping.)

(Me: U sure? I don't think that's a good idea..)

(Ethan 💘: Oh come on Sam! You really think I would avoid the carnival if this is the perfect time to sneak out? I don't think so! 😏)

(Me: Wow your cheeky. Ok fine! Meet me at my house around 12.)

(Ethan 💘: Deal. Be ready!)

After dying of boredom, 12 o'clock finally arrived. I opened my front door, to see Ethan standing there perfectly on time, as usual.

Ethan: "About time!" He said cheekily.

Me: "Let me guess, you've been waiting here for five seconds!?"

Ethan: "No actually! Six seconds!"

We both laughed and made our way to the carnival. I also invited Sasha and Tanisha, Adriana too but she had plans with her family.

I told Sasha and Tanisha to meet us at the front of the carnival.

Sasha: "Hey lovebirds!" She said once we arrived.

Tanisha: "Hello guys, now, today is a day to forget about any worries! With any anger you have, let it out on a roller coaster by screaming!"

Ethan: "Ooh, sounds good to me!"

Sasha: "Hmm I don't know Eth, your scream is a little girly!" She said while chuckling.

We walked into the carnival, and all I could hear was screaming and ride advertisements.

Tanisha: "Oh look! That one looks fun!" She said while pointing to the haunted house.

Me: "Um I don't know, I'm not a huge fan-"

Tanisha: "Sam really!? Forget about your worries and just do it!"

Ethan: "Come on babe, you've got me to cuddle!" He said squeezing me and giggling.

Sasha: "Just do it girl!"

Me: "Ok fine! But I'm sitting in the middle!"

After about ten minutes of waiting in line, it was our turn. I sat in the middle of the cart at the front. Ethan was on my right, and Sasha was on my left. Tanisha was keeping my back 'safe'.

Finally, after a few terrifying minutes, it was over. It was pretty fun though! Ethan kept hugging me, he also tried scaring me a few times!

Tanisha: "Over already! Ohhhh!"

Sasha: "Just a tad frightening, but damn that was fun!"

Ethan: "Sam I must admit, your screaming was just a little too loud." He said while acting like a genius.

Me: "Oh yes whatever!"

A few stomach spinning rides later, I started feeling hungry.

Me: "Guys is it alright if we get something to eat, I'm feeling empty in the stomach."

Tanisha: "Already, but you haven't even thrown up yet! How'd you lose you food?!" She said laughing.

Me: "Ha-ha. Very funny."

Sasha: "Yeah I'm getting a little peckish myself."

We all arrived at the chips van at the edge of the carnival and got some food.

After getting my delicious chips, I was walking towards an empty seat when I bumped into someone. Wait a second, is that.. SOPHIA!?

I looked up at her almost speechless.

Me: "W-hat!? Sophia?"

Sophia: "Oh my gosh hey Sam! I forgot to text you, I'm visiting the area for a few days! Well actually, this is my last day. I came yesterday morning."

Me: "I thought I would never see you again! How are you, how's Queensland?!"

Sophia: "Everything's great, Amelia wasn't able to come so I'm just here with my Dad. Um, is that Ethan over by the chips van?"

Me: "Yeah, um he's my boyfriend now. Tell Amelia I said hi!"

Sophia: "Congratulations! Sure I will, but I really need to go home and pack for the flight! Don't forgot to text me!" She said rushing off.

Me: "I will!" I said loudly.

I sat on the empty seat while staring at my chips.

Sasha: "Was that Sophia?" She said while walking up to me.

Me: "Yeah she was visiting the area!"

We all sat down and quietly ate our chips.

Tanisha: "Now, there's a ride I've been waiting to go on this whole time, but I wanted everyone to be in the mood."

Ethan: "What ride would that be?"

Tanisha: "Um.. The snake rider." She said pointing to a huge roller coaster.

Me: "The snake rider!?"

Sasha: "It is a little extreme, but personally I think we can do it!"

Ethan: "Your on!"

Me: "Umm I don't know.."

Sasha: "Sam, do you want to achieve something today? Do you want to be proud of yourself?"

Suddenly a flow of thoughts and memories filled my head.

Me: "Yes I do! Bring it on!" I said not even sure of what words were coming out of my mouth.

I sat at the front of the cart with Ethan by my side, while Sasha and Tanisha were seated behind us.

Suddenly the cart unlocked, and started going up, and up, and up. I squeezed Ethan's hand as tight as I could. We were at the highest point of the roller coaster, when it started going down, but for only 2 seconds, because it just.. Stopped?!
