Chapter 24: Broken Trust

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

Me: "Jake?"

What is Jake doing here? Who's the tall man standing next to him?

Jake: "Samantha? Uh hi, this is my Dad..."

Oh no, you've got to be kidding me.

Mum suddenly came to the door to welcome them inside.

Mum: "Hello Frank! Who's this?" She asked Jake's Dad referring to Jake.

Me: "Mum this is Jake..."

Mum: "You two know eachother? That's great! No awkward conversations!" She laughed, nudging Jake's Dad.

Now they were both laughing, while Jake and I were standing in front of each other awkwardly. This is going to be perfect! Note my sarcasm.

Mum: "Well, come on in! Take a seat, relax!"

Frank: "Actually, I made some pumpkin cheesecake, although I left it at home. Would it be alright if I left Jake here for a bit so I can pick it up?" He asked with a deep voice.

Mum: "That's no problem at all, Samantha go take Jake to your room!"

Could this get any worse?

I led Jake up to my room, with no idea of what would happen next.

Jake: "Cool place!" He said enthusiastically.

Me: "Yeah um, thanks. Incase you forgot, I have a boyfriend. So don't even try-"

Jake: "Woah calm down! I'm sorry, I didn't even know..."

The doorbell suddenly went off.

Jake: "That'd be Dad, I'll get it."

I followed him towards the door.

Ethan: "Jake is that you?"

This can't possibly be happening.

Jake: "What are you doing here?"

Ethan: "Me? What exactly are you doing here?"

Me: "Jake's staying for dinner..." I said while walking out the doorway towards Ethan.

I put my arm around his shoulder and walked him just outside my house.

Me: "We'll be a minute..." I told Jake hoping he'd understand I was trying to let him know I wanted privacy.

Ethan: "Sam, you invited Jake over for dinner? I trusted you!"

Me: "No no, this is all a big misunderstanding! I didn't invite him-"

Ethan: "Save it. Samantha, I thought you were better than that."

Me: "Ethan please-"

Ethan: "I just need some space..."

He slowly turned around and walked back to his house. I can't believe what just happened. Ethan was my everything. Now he's gone, just like that. I've learnt a lesson. When you've got someone, hold them tight. Don't ever let anything get in the middle of your love, because in the end, they're all you have...
