Chapter 22: Caught!

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

"Excuse me, but I believe we have a problem..."

A problem? What could we have possibly done wrong?

"This young man here has illegally stolen a loaf of bread from the village bakery." He said with a deep dark voice looking at Ethan.

Oh no.

Nicole: "Ethan? No, my Ethan would never-"

Me: "I-t was me... I was the one who stole the bread."

I couldn't let my poor Ethan suffer just like that.

Nicole: "Really? Samantha?" She said in a disappointed voice.

Ethan: "No! It wasn't Samantha you have to believe me!"

"Listen kids, whoever it was you better come with me, otherwise the both of you pay the price."

Ethan pulled me aside giving me a confused look.

Ethan: "Sam we both know it was me who stole the bread and I'm incredibly sorry for getting you involved but you can easily move yourself out of the problem as I am about to confess!"

Me: "There's no way I'm letting you get into all this trouble!"

Ethan: "You don't deserve this! You did nothing wrong, just let me solve this-"

Me: "Fine. We do this together then. It's either me alone, or both of us."

Ethan: "Sam you can't-"

Me: "Ethan! We are in this together! I'm not leaving your side!"

Ethan: "I really think this is a bad idea... But fine. Don't say I didn't warm you!"

We walked up to the man and told him we both need to pay the price as it was a partnership robbery.

"Right then. Are these your guardians?" He said pointing to Ethan's parents.

Ethan: "My guardians. Not Samantha's." He said with slight sadness.

"Well then. I'll talk with this young man's guardians and see if they can somehow let your guardians know we'll be out, for a while." He told me, rubbing his shiny bald head.

After having a short conversation with Ethan's parents, he led us into his big truck.

Ethan: "Do you still want to-" He whispered into my ear as the man was driving.

Me: "Of coarse, we can do this together!"

Ethan: "Ok, if you say so." He said unsure of my decision.

Shortly, we arrived at the bakery... The one that Ethan stole from.

"Since you two have behaved in a naughty way, your going to spend your time in our finest bread making room!"

Ethan looked at me with a spark of relief, with myself feeling the same. For some odd reason, I thought they'd bring us somewhere worse... Like prison or something.

"Right, this is June and she's one of our workers. She'll be keeping an eye on you two so get to work!" He said while rushing out of the bakery.

June: "Hello you two, follow me I'll show you around!"

June looked about sixteen years old, and she seemed like a nice girl. I was actually kind of happy to be out of school, with all the drama going on.

June: "Right, so get rolling!" She said after telling us our jobs.

June left us to monitor the front bench for any customers.

We started having a convo as we were rolling the bread dough.

Ethan: "Aye, this isn't as bad as I thought huh!" He said with a slight smirk showing on the corners of his mouth.

Me: "Definitely better than prison!"

Ethan: "Prison? You thought we were going to prison!" He said holding in his laughter.

Me: "Well... Where else would we go then, Mr know it all!"

Ethan: "Maybe a place called the police department!"

He suddenly took the packet of flour off the bench and popped it right in my face.

Ethan: "Suppose you need a hand cleaning up!" He said while chuckling.

Me: "Ethan!"

He then tipped a bucket of icing on top of my whole entire head.

Ethan: "Hmm... Something's missing!"

Before I had the chance to talk, he got a packet of gummy bears from the shelve and tipped it on me.

Ethan: "There! My beautiful master piece! Do you like it!" He said pushing me to the full length mirror on the wall.

Me: "Do I like it? I love it!"

We both bursted into an uncontrollable laugh that lasted for over five minutes.

Ethan: "Wow, I must admit, you look like quite an attractive fluffy-gummy-bear-monster!"

He dusted off some flour on my lips and kissed away.

Suddenly he stopped sharply.

Ethan: "Hmmm..."

Me: "What aha?"

Ethan: "Oh nothing, you just taste good!" He said and continued the kiss.

After a 'hard' day working at the bakery, it was 7:00pm on the clock when June came in the back room.

As she entered, her eyes scanned the room to see a huge mess, and of coarse, me! A girl covered in flour, icing, and colourful gummy bears!

June: "Wow, what happened here... Uh never mind, where's the required bread you needed to make?"

Ethan: "Right here!" He said happily moving out of the way so June could see the finished bread on the bench.

June: "Ok, your free to go!"

As we were handing June our aprons, I heard a sigh of relief from Ethan.

I stepped out of the bakery, seeing Mum's car on the road.

Me: "Mum?" I said while she opened the car door.

Mum: "Get in the car honey, Ethan come I'll drop you off."

Me: "Mum I'm really sorry about this!"

Mum: "What were you thinking? Rob a bakery so you can miss the day off school?"

Me: "No no Mum it's not like that!"

Ethan: "Stop. Sam I can't do this anymore. It was me, I stole the bread. Samantha told me not to, but I didn't listen. I'm sorry."

I bit my lip in curiosity to what my Mum was going to say.

Mum: "That's ok. People make mistakes in life, and knowing you two I'm sure it was all for a good cause. Just don't do it again, alright?" She said calmly.

Phew, that went way better than I had expected!

Ethan: "Sure thing, we are both incredibly sorry!"

The rest of the car drive was pretty quiet, supposedly because each of us had a lot going on in our heads.

I woke up the next morning to see a cute little fluffy puppy on my face!

Me: "Daisy! Hey sweety!"

She woke me up with a huge smile. I then realised that since Daisy was here, Ethan would have to be somewhere...

Ethan: "Soo how was your sleep!"

He popped up from the floor, giving me the biggest fright.

Me: "Ethan! You scared me!"

Ethan: "My sleep was great thanks! I had a beautiful dream, it was about you..."
