Chapter 23: The New Boy

SAMANTHA'S P.O.V

Me: "Aw I love u Eth!" I said giving him a warm hug.

We got ready for school together while Daisy was running around following us both.

When we arrived at the school gates, Sasha, Tanisha and Adriana rushed up to us.

Sasha: "Where were you two yesterday? We missed you guys heaps!"

I bit my lip and looked over at Ethan. He was about to say something but I cut him off.

Me: "We kind of spent the day at the bakery making up for stealing a loaf of bread..."

Adriana: "Wait what!"

Ethan: "Well actually, I stole the bread but Sam didn't want me to face it alone, although it was all my fault."

Sasha: "You guys! Tell us everything!"

We informed the girls on what happened throughout the whole day yesterday while walking towards our lockers.

Tanisha: "Woah, what a day!" She exclaimed.

Suddenly Zac, Dylan and Tyler popped out of no where and started asking Ethan tons of questions. I felt slightly bad for him to have to repeat it all, but I guess I should just let him be with his friends for a bit.

Today I noticed there was an unfamiliar face standing next to my English teacher.

Teacher: "Ah, Samantha, just the girl I've been looking for! This is Jake, he came from Queensland! I was wondering if you could sit with him today, I think your sweet personality would be wonderful for him!"

I looked over at Ethan, who was standing right beside me. He looked unsure.

Me: "Uh, sure Miss!"

Jake looked quite cute. He had short brown messy hair, pearly white teeth, and big blue eyes. He seemed nice, well I'm not sure, but he kept smiling...

Teacher: "Fantastic! Jake you can head over now and sit with Samantha over there!"

She pointed to Ethan's seat. Oh no.

Me: "I'm sorry!" I whispered to Ethan as I walked over to my desk.

Ethan quickly rushed to the desk at the back of the classroom. I really wanted him to sit with me, but I didn't want to let the teacher, or Jake, down.

Jake: "Thanks for this." He said warmly and cheerfully.

Me: "All good! So you come from Queensland aye?"

Jake: "Yep! The Gold Coast to be specific."

Me: "So what brings you here?"

Jake: "Well, my Dad got a promotion for his work. He asked me if I was ok with it, and I'm really close with Dad so I didn't want to let him down. Ever since Mum passed away, Dad and I have been so close."

Me: "Oh... I'm sorry to hear."

We kept blabbering on until I thought of Ethan, so I turned back to look at him. He was staring out the window with a sad puppy face. I really wanted to be with him at this point.

After an extremely quiet recess, I headed inside for French class.

Jake: "Hey Sam, saved you a spot!" He said joyfully waving at me.

Ethan: "Sam, you said you would sit with me after recess, remember?!"

Oh great, I've got myself into another mess.

Sasha: "Excuse us gentlemen!" She said pulling me aside.

Me: "Sasha, what am I going to do?"

Sasha: "Listen, it's up to you girl but you need to keep Jake in the friend zone alright!" She said releasing my arm and walking back to her desk.

Ethan: "Fine, sit with Jake today. Tomorrow is a different story."

Me: "Thank you babe!" I quickly wispered.

Jake: "Sam, have I ever told you how beautiful you are?" He said with a full wink.

Me: "Uh nah..."

Jake: "Your eyes are so dreamy, and that smile. That perfect smile-"

Ethan: "What do you think your doing? Flirting with my girlfriend aye?!" He yelled angrily, interrupting the class.

This is bad. Really bad.

Jake: "Your girlfriend?"

Ethan: "Yes, my girlfriend! Stay away from her!"

French Teacher: "Excusez-moi! Détention!" He yelled pointing to both Jake and Ethan.

Why did this have to happen?!

The rest of the day I decided to stay around Sasha. I didn't feel comfortable with Jake, and I knew Ethan needed some time away from me.

The day was finally over. Normally I would walk home with Ethan, but today I couldn't.

Sasha: "Hey, come home with me. Tanisha and Adriana are being picked up by my Mum too. We can just relax!"

Me: "Thank you but I'm going to have to pass, I just want some alone time!"

Sasha: "Suit yourself. Alright, see yah tomorrow!"

Me: "Mum! I'm home!" I yelled while unlocking the front door.

Mum: "Hi sweety, go get changed please!" She said while rushing around in the kitchen.

Me: "Woah, what's the big rush?"

Mum: "An old work friend is coming over at six for dinner!"

Me: "Ok, call me if you need any help."

I changed into some comfortable clothes, put my hair into a high ponytail, and did a small braid across the top of my head.

I was just about ready, when I heard the doorbell.

Me: "I'll get it!" I yelled running up to the front door.

I opened the door to see something completely unexpected.

Me: "Jake?"
