The following day at school was awkward and the day after that was awkward, too, in fact, the rest of the week was awkward and everybody felt the tension, especially Stacie who found out about what happened between Beca and Chloe. She tried to get Beca to talk to Chloe about what happened but the tiny brunette refused, wanting to give Chloe her space, which Stacie respected. Beca felt horrible about what happened. She believed that she had pushed things too far with her and Chloe and that she had ruined everything between them. The alt-girl had trouble focusing at school and at most things, even her music, which was very rare. Music was Beca's escape. If anything wasn't going right for Beca, she would turn to her music that would relax her and forget about the bad things happening around her. But this was different and Beca knew it was because she had feelings for Chloe.
For some reason, Beca's feelings for the redhead grew after their incident. Beca couldn't understand why but all she knew is that she wanted to be with Chloe and hated the fact that they were so awkward around each other. English class was a nightmare. Chloe didn't say a word to Beca and just focused on her work. Beca couldn't even do her work. She was still getting help from her tutor that her father had hired but Chloe was on Beca's mind too much for the brunette to concentrate on anything else.
One the final day of the week had concluded, Chloe was sitting at the table with her father eating dinner but the girl wasn't hungry and that didn't go unnoticed by her father.
"What's up, Chlobear?" He asked. "You're not eating again. You're usually starving by this time."
"I know..."
"What's going on?"
"It's fine, daddy."
"No, tell me. I hate seeing you this way."
Chloe sighed. "I'm just having a bit of trouble with one of my friends that's all."
"What kind of trouble?"
"It's kinda complicated but I was helping her with her English and there was a bit of a... misunderstanding and now we're not speaking."
"What kind of misunderstanding?"
Chloe wasn't sure what to say. There was no way she could have told her father the truth. Just the thought of telling him made Chloe's blood run cold.
"She has a... learning problem and I thought she... meant something when she showed me a song of hers and I took it the wrong way and now we're not speaking."
"Did she insult you?"
"No, it's... it's just complicated that's all. I thought we were friends but... I don't know."
"I'm sorry, Chlobear. Friendships can be hard but don't let them get you down. You've got other friends though, right?"
"Yes," she nodded.
"Focus on them then. Don't worry about this other girl."
"I suppose..."
"It'll be okay." He gave her a comforting smile.
"Thanks, daddy."
"You're welcome. Now, have you taken your vitamins?"
"Yes, daddy. I took them this morning."
