Forgetting For A Day

I climbed into the truck and waited as Amethyst put our stuff into the the box in the back. We had gotten a message from her mom this morning. It was just saying she wasn't going to send out a hunt for us she just wanted her truck back once we got settled in ,and she wanted updates at least once a day.
As I waited I turned up the radio. American Idiot by Green Day blasted on the truck speakers. I turned it down and Amethyst opened the door and jumped in laughing. I smiled and we started our journey. We listened to music, sang along to most of the songs, and just laughed. Almost as if our pasts' had never happened.
About 12 in the afternoon.
"Amethyst!!! I'm hungryyyyyyyyy" I whined. Amethyst laughed and replied," well the first place I see we can stop and eat we will. Promise" I fell back into my seat and listened to music. We had heard the same songs over and over as if they were stuck on a loop. Then I realized, we were listening to my music on my phone. "Amethyst do you want to hear a joke?" I asked. "Yea let's hear it." She said smiling. "My grandpa is really cool... he has the heart of a lion, and a lifetime ban at the zoo." I said smiling. Amethyst started laughing, then again she always laughs at bad jokes. "Do you want to hear another?" I asked. "Ye-yea" she replied trying to calm her laughing. "Ok so this squirrel walks up to a tree and says; I forgot to store nuts for the winter. So he died. The funny thing is that the squirrel died." Amethyst glanced over at me then kept looking on at the road. "Jayyyy that's mean!" she stated. I giggled, "It's from Up. You know the Pixar movie." I replied. Amethyst smiled, "Jay turn on your Disney songs." She said. I grabbed my phone and switched the playlists, and plugged my phone in. Finally after about fifteen minuets of bad jokes and Shrek puns we saw a park. "Oh oh oh PARKKKK!" I yelled, "Ame can we go to the park?"i asked putting my face against the window like a child. Amethyst pulled into the parking lot and we got out stuff for lunch. We ate lunchables and drunk little juices. After eating we packed everything up and raced to the swings. "I win I win I win!" Amethyst exclaimed happily jumping up and down. I stuck my tongue out and sat down and started swinging. "Amethyst?" I asked. "Yea Jay?" she replied. "I love you" I said with a smile. "I love food." She answered "but yea I love you way more." We laughed and played around. It was about 2:47pm when we left. We drove for about twenty more minuets before having to stop for gas. After we got back on the road I started the Disney music again. After about six or seven more hours of driving Amethyst pulled into a Motel 6. "Like yesterday alright, stay here" she said before going into the motel. When she came out she waved the keys and our routine went on. Tearing the bed apart then showers then we ate. "Today was fun" Amethyst said as we ate pizza. "Mm hmm" I managed with a full mouth. Amethyst giggled and sighed, "I wonder what will become of tomorrow." She said. I shrugged my shoulders and continued eating my pizza. Amethyst smiled and we ate then watched tv until we fell asleep.
