Jay's POV
"It's been a week now. We've got this apartment, and I've got a part-time job. The only major problem is Amethyst is always on her phone now." I went over all these things in my head as I laid on the couch. I sighed and when I did there was a knock at the door. "Hmmm?" I got up and walked sluggishly to the door. As I opened the door a tall man in a suit and sunglasses stood with flowers and a goofy smile. "Who are you?" I asked. "I am Mitch, is Amethyst here?" he asked trying to look into the apartment. I shut the door more, "What do you want with her?" I asked annoyed. Mitch shifted from one foot to another, "well... um.. She invited me over. I didn't know she had a roommate." Mitch stated while he looked my body over. I was just about to shut the door when Amethyst just had to walk in, "Jay who is it at the door?" she asked. I moved away from the door. Once Amethyst saw him she screamed, "MITCH!" and ran and jumped into his arms. I rolled my eyes as Amethyst took his hand and led him down the hall. Sure, I wondered what they were doing, but I thought that I was clingy enough. I laid down on the couch again and watched tv for a while.
After about a hour, I got up before I fell asleep. I walked back the hall heading for the bedroom. As I opened the door though I was met with a sight that woke me up.
Amethyst was below Mitch, who had no shirt on. Mitch was kissing her neck and she was moaning the name Paul. I slammed the door and with tears in my eyes I left the apartment. I walked down the stairs and headed for the sidewalk when I heard a familiar voice, "Jay! Jay please! I swear it's not that bad if you let me explain! Jay! Come on Jay!" Amethyst yelled and begged. I kept walking though, I didn't want to hear her excuses. I didn't want to hear anything.
I've been walking for quite a bit now, the worst thing is that she had to pick a night when the streets of Michigan were crowded. I pulled my jacket closer to me as a cold wind blew. "Damn, I don't know which is worse... freezing to death outside of facing my girlfriend who has cheated on me?" I thought. I looked back then kept going. Who knows where I was heading, I didn't care as long as I was away. I kept walking, I passed so many people. Soon enough though I ended up on a park bench freezing and crying.
I woke up to the sun shining and a guy sitting at my feet with a white take-out box. I sat up and quietly said sorry. The guy smiled and handed me the box. I was hesitant at first but then took the box. "So what might of caused you to be out on a bench?" he asked. I looked up at him, "I... my... my girlfriend cheated on me, so I left. I guess I just got so tired I settled of a park bench." I said quietly. I opened the box, and inside were warm pancakes with syrup, butter, and chocolate chips. "Well I'm Alexander, and if you would like I can take you to your home." Alexander said. I sighed and nodded.
