3 weeks without Shawn.
Without social media.
Just spending time with my little brother and my mom. This has opened my eyes a little more, seeing that I had been so invested into Shawn and wanting to be with him all the time.I started seeing my therapist again and she thinks it's a good idea for me to focus on myself before anyone else. Yesterday I decided it was my last session with her.
"Put your mitts and hat on because it's cold out." I said as my little brother ran to get his things.
I was taking him out to the mall with me so we can spend a little more time together doing things. It's been so long since I've taken my brother out just us two.
"Can we get food there?" He asked.
"Only if you're good." I smiled.
We arrived at the mall and I let him go into whatever stores he wanted considering this was more about him than me. Also it gives me a good idea of what he wants for Christmas.
"Hey." I said answering my phone as I kept a close eye on Dylan.
"How are things? I haven't seen you in almost two weeks." Mads said through the phone.
"I know." I laughed. "Things are good though. I'm really happy right now and I've been spending more time with my family which is good."
"That's good. What are you doing right now?" She asked.
"I'm at the mall with Dylan." I said looking at some keychains on a rack.
"Mind if I join?" She asked.
"We're actually about to go get food, you can meet us, then we can head back to my place?" I suggested.
"Sure, yeah. Where are you guys eating?" She asked.
"Dylan really loves his pizza so I was thinking of heading to Pizza Pizza down the street from the mall." I walked over as Dylan held up a transformers robot showing me it. "Oh wow." I smiled.
"I'll text you when I'm there." She said.
"Alright bye." I smiled hanging up the phone. "Do you mind if Madison tags along?" I asked.
"No." He said. "Can we get food now?" He asked.
"Yes." I laughed. "Come on." I wrapped my arm around his shoulder as we walked through the mall to our car. I looked up at the billboards outside the mall as I had seen a picture of Shawn on there.
I avoided looking at it but couldn't help but stare. I do miss him a lot and I miss having him around.
"Isn't that your boyfriend?" Dylan asked pointing up at Shawn.
"No Dylan, he's my friend." I said letting out a fake laugh. "Wait, how do you know?" I asked.
"Mom showed me." He said. I chuckled shaking my head as we continued our journey to the car.
Arriving at the pizza place, it didn't take long as Madison texted me she was inside waiting for us. She stood up as Dylan ran over giving her a hug.
"Hi bubs." She smiled squeezing him tight.
We ordered the pizza as we sat and waited for it. I let Dylan use my phone to play some games as Madison and I chatted away.
"You know he messages me?" Madison said looking up at me.
"I figured." I sighed. "How's he doing?" I asked.
"Well I talked to him about 2 days ago and he was prepping for the Victoria Secret fashion show." She nodded. "He asked about you but I told him I didn't really know much considering you were keeping to yourself."
"Nothing personal towards you, I just wanted to spend time with family." I said.
"Oh I know, I just needed an excuse to not tell him about you. I would think you'd like it kept to you and that you would want to tell him." She said.
She was getting a call on her phone as I looked down seeing it was from him. She looked over at me right away as I told her it was okay and that she should answer it.
"Hey Shawn." She smiled. "I'm actually out right now, getting some pizza." She chuckled.
"Did you want to talk to him?" She mouthed over to me as I gave it a second thought. I wasn't completely cutting him out just needed time to think. I nodded my head yes as she perked up.
"Amanda, is actually with me right now." Madison said. "Yeah, sure." She handed the phone over to me as I took a deep breath before answering it.
"Hello." I said putting the phone to my ear.
"Hi." He sounded cheerful.
"How are things?" I asked.
"Things are good." He said. He went on for a good 5 minutes telling me about everything that has happened and all the gigs he has lined up for the next couple months as I listened to everything.
"I'm glad things are working out for you." I smiled.
"I miss having you around." I could almost hear the smile through the phone. A small smile appeared on my face as I looked down.
"I bet you do." I whispered. I heard him chuckle on the other line as I looked up to see Madison with a smile on her face.
"So how have you been?" He asked.
"Great, actually." I smiled.
"I'm glad you're happy." He said.
"I'm going to give Madison her phone back now but it was nice talking to you." I said. "Bye Shawn."
"Bye Amanda." I handed the phone back to her as she said her goodbyes and hung up the phone.
"See, that wasn't so hard to do? You can still maintain a relationship with him and your family." She said. "Tell her, Dylan." She said looking over at my little brother.
"You should date him." He said.
"Alright, let's not get my little brother involved." I chuckled. "Just give me time."
