Chapter 21

Shawn pulled up to the office as I let out a sigh kind of nervous. I've never brought anyone with me other than Madison but I've known Madison basically my whole life.

"You ok, hun?" I heard Shawn say as I felt his hand resting on my knee. I had zoned out looking up at the office.

"Yeah I'm fine." I smiled. "C'mon." I said as we both got out of the car heading into the building. I let the secretary know I was here as she sat us down. My leg was fidgeting as Shawn put his hand on it calming me down.

"I can wait out here." He reassured.

"No, I want you to come in." I said rubbing his arm up and down.

"Amanda?" I heard my name being called as I looked over to see Dr. Loughlin smiling my way. She had a shocked look on her face as she saw me walking over with Shawn, hand in hand.

"Hi." I smiled as we approached her. We got to the room sitting down as she closed the door before returning to her seat.

"Hi, so before we start, you're Shawn Mendes?" She said in more of a question tone as she let out a chuckle.

"Yeah, I am." He laughed.

"My daughter is a huge fan of yours." She smiled as I just watched as they continued to talk. I'm letting Shawn in on a huge part of my life and I really hope I'm not making a mistake.

"So Amanda, is this the guy you've been telling me about?" She asked breaking my focus.

"Yeah." I smiled over to him.

"I'm glad to see you're opening up about this. Sometimes having someone who can be there for you other than Madison is nice." She smiled.

We continued to talk for the next hour about Shawn and I, I've already told her how we met last time I was here but she asked him questions about me and what he thinks of all this. I'm glad he's so understanding and caring with all of this. I thought he would've been scared because of how fucked up I was.

"Amanda's been doing great. Probably one of the fastest recoveries I've ever seen." She said making me smile.

"I'm glad." Shawn said looking over at me. "She's really something unique, something special in my life and love having her around." Heat rose to my cheeks as I just looked down in my lap smiling.

We ended up leaving her office hand in hand as he walked me to the car opening the passenger door for me. Pulling me back as I went to get in, he looked in both eyes back and forth for a couple seconds.

"I don't know if you know this already, but I'm glad I met you." He said as I bit down on my bottom lip looking up at him.

"The feelings mutual." I blushed.

"I think if anything, it brought us closer together." I smiled looking up at the ceiling. I had invited Madison over after Shawn dropped me off at my house to tell her about it all.

"I told you he wouldn't judge or treat you differently." She said pushing my legs.

"He played me his new song from the album he's been working and I felt like I related to it so much." I said remembering the lyrics. "He talks about wanting to give up, and feeling useless but he can't because it's not in his blood."

"He played you new music?" She asked in awe.

"Yeah, just one song but it was beautiful. I know his fans are going to love it." Just then, I was getting a text message from the one and only.

"So we have a release date for the first single, and we're planning on releasing a second song the day after."

"Oh wow. Your fans really don't know what's about to hit them lmao"
