Chapter 31

Chaeyoung woke up feeling light, she opened her eyes only to be blinded by the white light. She sighed internally, I'm here again.

She slowly opened her eyes and sat up, seeing no one in the room, she felt a bit satisfied with the silence of the room. She knows she's in the hospital but somehow the room felt unfamiliar. As if she's never been here. Then, she lied back down again and stared at her bracelet. The bracelet with a tiger pendant, she knew it was special but never did she think it was from a special friend.

Chaeyoung was sighing while watching the news. The news was all about the fire that happened to their apartment and she can never escape the traumatic experience. She's scared to even go out for grocery that's why Taehyung went alone. Yeah, she's sitting on Taehyung's couch inside his house, he has his own house and he lives with his grandmother but since she passed away, Taehyung felt incomplete and because of pity, Chaeyoung agreed on living with him.

Minutes later, the front door opened, revealing Taehyung carrying white plastic bags. He smiled widely when he saw Chaeyoung on the couch, he threw the bags on the table.

"Chaeyoung-ah! I have a gift for you!" He cheered.

Chaeyoung faced him and raised an eyebrow, she watched Taehyung get something from the pockets of his jacket, then he grabbed a small box. He gave it to Chaeyoung which she opened slowly.

It was a bracelet with a tiger pendant, seeing the bracelet made her head hurt.

"I saw it in your apartment."

Chaeyoung's eyes widened, "you went there?!" She asked dramatically.

"Well, not really. I passed by and the police asked me if I knew someone around. I said I know you and they gave me this small box, it contained a necklace but since it was ruined by the fire, I made it as a bracelet!"

Chaeyoung stared at him after his long explanation, "so that's what took you so long."

Taehyung flashed her his famous box smile, "well, I wanted you to smile for once.." his smile slowly frowned, "but nevermind."

Taehyung walked towards the kitchen, sulking and that's when Chaeyoung felt guilty. She ran towards him and hugged him while his back turned to her. He was startled with the sudden hug.

"Thanks, Taehyung." Chaeyoung said, "I might not be able to smile but thank you."

Taehyung smiled, feeling accomplished, "no worries, cub."

Chaeyoung sighed and stared at the ceiling, all these years, she was wearing the bracelet because she thought Taehyung brought it for her and used the fire as an excuse. She held the tiger pendant and turned it around, she saw the english letters of Mina's initials, she almost teared up but then Taehyung barged in the room, looking angry.

"Chaeyoung!" She heard a growl and saw Taehyung really angry.

"Taehyung-ah!" She greeted happily, she thought Taehyung was angry because she is once again inside the hospital. "I'm alive!"
